Michael Oakes was no 2 to one of the best goalies in the country (prob world) at that time and the drop off wasn't as vast when he played.

We're not going to get one of the top 20/30 keepers in the world to sit on our bench, true.

But we can do better than this bloke.

I think he’s given him a season to evaluate, you may well be right come end of May but as he decided not to replace him before the start he was always going be to our No.2.

Keeping Steer and letting Olsen go was the obvious route .

Steer didn't play for 2 years because of injury and is now at Peterborough, it would have been a disaster of a route.

OK who? And just tell me which other PL number 2s other than at man city and Liverpool are better than him?
Your dislike of our keeper is bordering on an unhealthy obsession.

The problem is , his presence alone rattles our own defence to shreds when he's on the pitch and it's a vicious circle from there . The crowd get edgy , the commentators sense it and so do the opposition players . Olsen himself has that look in his eyes that spells problems on the horizon. He made a couple good saves but the issue is wider .

I never realised he was subbed on for 9 minutes against Brentford. Slipped me by.

Pretty much all the other PL number 2s to start with (apart from Raya, obv).

But thanks for your unhealthy obsession.

I'd have Sam Johnstone back as backup .

He wasn't dropped into an FA Cup match against Stevenage with half the Gerrard signings Emery wanted to get a proper look at, so that would make this season seem better.

To be honest, we can discuss Mr Olsen's abilities for hours, but it looks like he'll be between the sticks for a few games to come so I hope we get behind the bloke. Great save last night after the  Carlos mind fuck.

He looks much more comfortable playing with his feet, too.

So Tim, tell me what garbage he has done this season then? After all you seem to be the expert.
