Michael Oakes was no 2 to one of the best goalies in the country (prob world) at that time and the drop off wasn't as vast when he played. We're not going to get one of the top 20/30 keepers in the world to sit on our bench, true. But we can do better than this bloke.
Keeping Steer and letting Olsen go was the obvious route .
The problem is , his presence alone rattles our own defence to shreds when he's on the pitch and it's a vicious circle from there . The crowd get edgy , the commentators sense it and so do the opposition players . Olsen himself has that look in his eyes that spells problems on the horizon. He made a couple good saves but the issue is wider .
