I thought it was being delayed until after Wednesday. Maybe they have agreed he won't play. Anyway bonne chance Lucas.

He's been on holiday ( like Watkins, Konsa, Martinez ) so he definitely wasn't kicking a ball for any club on Wednesday.

I know all those goodbye messages are scripted, but feels pretty genuine. Absolutely top player for 4.5 years. Saw off Moreno and for the most part Maatsen. Clearly a leader in the dressing room too.
Great move for him, don?t blame him for going at this stage of his career. Probably right time for us given his age, though he?ll be missed. Best left back since Staunton.

Top professional with a superb left foot delivery. Enjoy your next chapter, but not too much.

It's a great move for him at 33. Nice signing on fee, wages, and is back home in a league that will be a lot less physically demanding.

Bonne chance, Lucas. Great player for us, arguably our best left back in my time supporting the Villa.

Hope it works out for him. He's going home and he'll no longer have issues finding French-speaking schools for the kids.

What I hope is we'll celebrate more those of the squad who stay and earn us a second and third, etc trophy in this era (I'd love the FA Cup this coming season seeing as the CL is unlikely).

But ultimately, thank you Lucas for being part of the glory in Istanbul.

Very good player wasn't he. Struggled terribly under Gerrard and was clear Emery wasn't overly keen for a while. Wasn't he about to move on at one stage only for the deal to fall through? Fought back into favour superbly and saw off Moreno and Maatsen in the end. Similar enough to Matty Cash in the other full back position. This is a deal that makes sense for us and the player. All the best.

Sad to see him go.. A proper Villa player, and big boots to fill for whoever comes in

By all accounts a really good guy. It?s probably the right move for him and us given his age, but we?ve lost a top quality left back.
