I think he was on his way back to France, like bags packed and all. It was the other guy we were supposed to be siging (Acuña?) getting injured that put a stop to it last minute. Moreno then took way longer to regain fitness.

Digne is superb.

We all thought he was back off to France this time last year. Moreno was instrumental in us getting Conference League football, but Digne/Maatsen is a better, more balanced pairing to have at left-back this season.

Until Moreno got injured i never thought Digne would step up as much as he has. He’s been consistently very good for a long time now. I’m so glad he’s staying.
Think he’s  one of the leaders in the team as well

Acuña is nicknamed the egg for good reason. He's misshapen and often found scrambling. Best-avoided.

I see he's just signed for River Plate. Acuña that is, not Digne.

Digne has been excellent for us for a long time now.

He is way more consistent than he used to be, too.

And he does good social media content ANOTHER ONE!!!!

I really like his full throated roar, ANOTHER ONE! to the nearest camera, on his way off the pitch after a Villa Win!

When u saw Digne playing for Everton he never stood out for me.  Neither did he under Gerrard.  You know where I’m going with this….great transformation.

Hes done very well for us - and he and kamara have put to bed the "french" curse we seemed to have.

Thought Moreneo looked good the first season - but never got going last year and Maatasen seems to be an upgrade on him skill sets so I think we have two top quality left backs who offer something different.

Was it Newcastle at home where Moreno absolutely ripped them a new one for 90 minutes?

He wasn't used well under Benitez, who I've never particularly rated as a manager. But he did look a good player earlier in his Everton career, possibly under Ancelotti. He was averaging 7 assists a season at one point which is pretty good for a left back and always looked a threat on set pieces.

Yeah, there was a period in between around 2018/19 to 2021 where I'm sure he was regarded as one of the best left backs in the league.

He definitely stood out to anyone who had a fantasy football team during that period.

Agree. He's a very good player and fits well into the Emery style.
