I think the groans he hears every time he chops back, often despite there being space to attack or a team mate to pass to has got to him.

The guys playing full back taking the throw ins probably hear more of the crowd and coach grumbles than any other player. There's definitely tactical instruction when it comes to Cash to hold possession and position. He used get caught up the field quite a bit but that rarely happens now.

Agreed with that, it's quite clear he's doing stuff he's told to do, and it's helped him a lot positionally. Which in turn means his in fewer situations where he might dive in.

These parts especially in bold of Matty Cash comments from his interview are up for discussion :

"Sometimes you are going to have tough times and we need them (the supporters) to be the extra man.

Sometimes I feel like they can be a little bit against us. I understand fans have their own opinions and too right they can moan. They pay for us, they pay their money to be here....

We just need the fans to be with us. We don’t need them against us. We need them supporting us.

Sometimes you read things on social media and you think: ‘Just stick with us’. We have three massive games now and try to give us as much confidence as you can.

Even during games and stuff, if things don’t go well it is like there is a big grudge against us, do you know what I mean?

Where are these quotes from? A little sad if so. If he's saying it diplomatically like that he probably actually hates our guts.

The guy behind me in the North Stand on Saturday kept-on calling him "Cutback Cash" and delighting in the joy of being proven right.

There are people who'd rather be right than be happy and it's one of the saddest things you can see on this earth.

I’d be massively surprised if he said half of what’s in here. Where did you see this?

I think this quite often, and I'll never understand it.

Express and Star carried it but don't know where they got it. I just googled off the phrase to find it.

https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/aston-villa/2025/05/04/sometimes-i-feel-they-can-be-a-little-bit-against-us-aston-villa-star-in-plea-to-fans-ahead-of-crucial-run-in/

Only comment which shows a real irony.

The way some of our support go on, you think quite a lot played like Pele on a Sunday morning,if Emery got I problem with him I am sure he tell him,I don't like the charging forward and cutting back, but I did notice sometimes against Fulham he did it, but it would help if certain players would get up the pitch quicker and into position

I'll be one of the first to criticise him when he does things like ball watch but he's been playing really well recently. He put made a great block against Fulham where he put himself at risk of injury to make and his goal-line clearance at the death was enough for me to give him my MotM. Who knows how critical that clearance might prove to be at the end of the season.

Can't fault his heart.
