re Man United and Munich, I remember we played them a few years ago and a paper plane was thrown from our end towards their keeper in the warm up.

Their forums were alive with people claiming it was all a reference to Munich.

Re the Preston question. I live near Preston and asked a friend who commentates on them for local radio, he'd never heard of this story.  He knows the club historian and will ask him, I shall update when and if I have feedback.

Thanks Laurence. Feel like I read it in a book about Victorian and Edwardian football.

My Preston supporting mate hasn't heard of it though.

When the Stripeys first came back up they were singing something to the tune of the Dambusters at Old Trafford. Cue the media meltdown.
