What a crap stadium Old Trafford is by the way. OK it's huge, but it feels old and outdated and not in a historic way. Plus having no big screens in the stadium is really small time. Only good thing about it is it's much easier to get away from than Villa Park. An hour after the final whistle yesterday I was on the M6 going past Stoke. Leaving VP I'd be lucky to be on the Expressway by then.

Were you in the away end Risso or did you have to sit on your hands? I’ve seen a few Villa fans on Twitter posting pics from various parts of the ground, including one bloke who went full on nuts after the goal or the penalty, with people around him just staring - luckily for him.

I haven’t been to Old Trafford since 1990 but remember it being impressive back then.

I was in one of the home corporate bits behind the dugouts. Mostly the prawn sarnie brigade, only half of whom seemed to be even remotely interested in the game. I gave it a huge cheer when we scored, to a few tuts but to be honest half of the stand were on the way to the exits before we scored anyway.

No, I think Shearer was clear in that he felt it was a good goal. Like the manyoo manager, he called out the inconsistency when comparing to a Leicester goal or something recently, but unlike the manyoo manager he believes both goals should've stood. His reasoning behind why one was given and the other not was that they came down to, effectively, umpire's call. Similar events, one the assistant flagged at the time, ours didn't.

The Leicester goal being ruled out last weekend was ridiculous.

IMO they intepreted it correctly given if you look at the replay De Gea has a clear view of Hause as he heads it even if Ollie was lingering by him. And he wasn't saving it in any case.

I thought it was more if a player runs across a keeper and completely blocks his vision as the shot is hit and ball trickles in when it's a saveable shot so in that situation you can understand it being ruled out.

Probably would've been ruled out last season when you think McGinn hit top corner at Arsenal and that was ruled out because one of ours was sort of blocking the keeper's view.

For the Targett miss, we had a player unmarked on the penalty spot iirc. Who was it, can anyone remember?

Oof, no wonder Ings was grumpy. Next time Cash knows who to pass to.

Watkins in current form would have taken 2 or 3 touches and passed back to the keeper.

Really really happy with the win but actually quite furious about the penalty award. Another referee, another game against the Manc reds and another dodgy penalty.

He needs to get off the mark for the season and then we'll see him back to his old self I'm sure.

That was a dodgy penalty decision wasn’t it? His hand is pretty much by his side.

Lord forgive me, but I'm coming around to the idea of three centre backs because:

A) Deano is an attack minded coaching genius and it means we actually play with less defenders as a result, Targett and Cash are midfielders.

B) We're dominant in either box at set pieces, and with our new coaching guru this will reap further rewards

C) Twice before, under Taylor first time round and then Brian Little, moving to three at the back triggered massive upswing in form, and it feels we might be on the cusp of that again.
