The report in the Grandian claimed Newton Heath had the more clear cut chances.

Are they in some sort of club or something the fuckin' roasters?

So clear cut that they lost 1-0.

An incredibly bitter write up, in which, before it was corrected after 10 mins of being published, referred to Dean Smith as 'Dean Wilson'. The whole thing reads like a Man U fan having an absolute meltdown.

Secondly, we were not by any stretch of imagination outplayed or out thought by Villa today. Not in terms of dominance, not in terms of tactics. They took one of their (few) chances, we did not take ours. If we had, we'd have won. Even though they probably played more or less up to capacity and we didn't

That wasn’t impression I had of the game. They really are a bunch of wassless clankers

Quote from Redcafe that compliments our coaching team ;

I like how Villa play, that's a very good tactically setup team where every player knows their role.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has gone into the under pressure manager default mode of making excuses and talking bollox.

Starting to think Jack going has actually done us a favour in more ways than one.

I am inclined to agree. Losing a world class player is never a good thing, but we look like so much more of a team than we did with the "Get the ball to Jack" approach of the last few years.

Like a few others I completely ignored the game and turned my phone on after full time. Absolutely glorious. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this thread. Enjoy your evening all.

I can't think of any chance of note they had second half bar Greenwood screwing a couple wide from edge of the box.

First half Greenwood probably should've scored early on when he turned in the area (similar to what Lukaku did two weeks ago) then they had the Mafguire header and Pogba hit some shot just wide (my stream had gone down at that point).

No way they created more than us today, we missed three sitters in first 30 minutes.

To be fair, that is a pretty lonely voice on that thread. Most people seem to agree it was a deserved victory for us.

Is this the best TEAM we have had the last 30 ish years?

A case could be made for the best coaching in 30 years.

I totally agree. Much better team without him now. They were utterly clueless when he was injured last season, as everything went through him when he played.

Just a random though...was watching Football Focus and Jonathan Pearce was doing the build up.

Not sure if anyone has the comms for when we last won there in December 2009 but I get the feeling he did it that night aswell (can't believe how few decent highlights there are on YT for that game).

Always enjoy it when he does our games as he seems to have a bit of a soft spot for us and certainly respects our history in the game. First on MOTD tonight I'm sure.

So clear cut that they lost 1-0.

The writer is their Manchester correspondent and he also wrote a book about solskjaer. I doubt he’s impartial.

we're a real team - the last few games have been fantastic performances. Mature and street-wise, and that's without Watkins and Ings scoring. Looking good.

Fair do’s. The bbc comments are comedy gold
