Konsa still needs to up his game especially for better teams than Newcastle
as only one Villa player could have scored that goal and he was Ings!
McGinn works his socks off but I am beginning to wonder if it is totally constructive as he doesn't seem to work WITH our midfield
Wish we had Saint-Maximin, he is a player that makes things happen
Wesley came on for 6 minutes and looked over weight and totally disinterested ...

What makes you say that?Quote from: achilles on August 21, 2021, 08:44:14 PM as only one Villa player could have scored that goal and he was Ings! bit of a sweeping statement, that; isn't it?Quote from: achilles on August 21, 2021, 08:44:14 PMMcGinn works his socks off but I am beginning to wonder if it is totally constructive as he doesn't seem to work WITH our midfield nah, today he played a little further forward and played his best game for quite a long time in Villa colours.Quote from: achilles on August 21, 2021, 08:44:14 PMWish we had Saint-Maximin, he is a player that makes things happen except a goal today?Quote from: achilles on August 21, 2021, 08:44:14 PMWesley came on for 6 minutes and looked over weight and totally disinterested ... Actually, he put himself about quite energetically, I thought. He may not survive at Villa but I think he deserves a chance to get back to full fitness and capability.
The Saint-Maximin line is particularly strange, I'm waiting to find out which pocket he ended up in because our back 4 all dominated him and he did absolutely fuck all. Add to that he's best on the right where we already have Buendia and Traore (and Bailey) and he'd be about the worst use for £40-50m I can imagine.
Just a word about AEG; who else can take penalties? ....Nobody’s fighting him for it!
What a strange game! Villa scored two goals and the Newcastle keeper never had to make a save, our shooting was abysmal! Ramsey started like a 'rabbit caught in the headlights' absolutely all over the place for about 10 - 15 minutes, then he got better and better as the game progressed, really pleased that he stayed on till the end as that game will do him the power of good.Buendia is still not fit (or perhaps carrying an injury) and it is blatantly obvious as he is not involved enough and trying to coast through the game!Ashley Young is class and his experience is invaluable, don't know how Targett will get his place back.Cash was much improved and great to see.Luiz started very well but certainly tired in the second half.El Ghazi was immense for the penalty, besides the absurd long wait for the decision, the Newcastle players were all having a go at him especially the keeper, under the circumstances it was a brilliant penalty, ice cool for the ice man!Mings was Mings, solid!Konsa still needs to up his game especially for better teams than Newcastle.Ings had little service as our midfileld (should be Buendia but he went awol) still can't play the ball early enough for Ing's runs off the defenders shoulder. His goal was absolutely brilliant, initially the scoreboard came up with Buendia as the scorer but I knew that was wrong immediately as only one Villa player could have scored that goal and he was Ings! Class finisher!McGinn works his socks off but I am beginning to wonder if it is totally constructive as he doesn't seem to work WITH our midfield.Overall a win but hardly convincing, still when we do eventually get all our players fit we can make a proper judgement.A couple of points:Wish we had Saint-Maximin, he is a player that makes things happen, always a constant danger as he has pace and the ability to beat a player, priceless qualities.Wesley came on for 6 minutes and looked over weight and totally disinterested, hendiaope I don't have to see him again!
My abiding memory of the game will be the promise shown by Ramsey. He is going to be a very good player.
