SJM was motm for me.

Mings scores bonus points for winding their mob up when jogging off the pitch after receiving treatment, with his beautiful big grin.

Biggest disappointment for me, was Matty Cash's bald patch. Where's that suddenly appeared from?! Sad times.

Ha ha, we noticed that. Egg in a nest, he won't be getting the "you're just a shit Jack Grealish chants" for much longer.

I can't understand how 2 people have given Mings a 6, that's ridiculous, got an assist, won a penalty (which was 100% a goal without the handball) and limited them to 1 shot on target all game and had Wilson riled up and looking like a knob all game. If anything he was ramseys biggest competition for motm.

Mings had a good game after a poor mistake that allowed Wilson to go through

I reckon the hair thing is why Ratboy left, he couldn't face being the subject of follicly-challenged banter from the Holte.

I was listening on the motorway ( several) and VP sounded fantastic. TS was based there for the afternoon.

Adrian Durham was waxing poetic about our lovely stadium (several mentions) and the cracking atmosphere, which he attributed to the brilliant crowd filling it. I could hear you from 100 miles away, no problem. You were fab.

I was so pleased to hear Danny’s Goal go in and later, I was jockeying around the North Circular when we (AEG!) got the penalty yay! 😃 and then they had the VAR call for their issue.  It all adds a certain edge when changing lanes to get off at Barking.

I’m so pleased to read the positive reviews for SJM; I think he is such a pivotal player for AV, not only in terms of the team’s performance on the pitch on the day, but also in his personal impact on the squad every day.

Looking forward to MOTD 👍

I thought McGinn was MoTM: back to his energetic, annoying self, with passes sprayed around and shots tried.
Ramsey got better and better after a slow start.
The back 5 were - well - solid, and I thought Young showed all his experience and nous.
Buendia and Ings - the new boys - played well. Buendia will improve for sure, and Ings just oozes class.
Luiz is a player, for sure, but not the deep-lying midfielder we crave: was Tuanzebe's late intro in that role a clue about future thinking? Prob not! although he could have brought on Marv ...
I'd like to have seen JPB's intro about 15 minutes' earlier, in place of the largely-anonymous AEG.

Martinez 6 complete rush of blood for the non penalty but did not have much to do.
Cash 7 fully committed performance
Mings 6
Konsa 6
Young 8 used his experience
Luiz 6 sloppy at times
Buendia 8 full of energy and guile
SJM 8 played higher up the pitch and it showed
AEG 4 Great penalty but really poor.
Ramsey 7 a very accomplished performance after some early lapses.
Ings 7 just for the finish

I didn't think Buendia was great. Definitely a good footballer but didn't think much came off for him. Stamina needs a bit of work too.

What a strange game!
Villa scored two goals and the Newcastle keeper never had to make a save, our shooting was abysmal!
Ramsey started like a 'rabbit caught in the headlights' absolutely all over the place for about 10 - 15 minutes, then he got better and better as the game progressed, really pleased that he stayed on till the end as that game will do him the power of good.
Buendia is still not fit (or perhaps carrying an injury) and it is blatantly obvious as he is not involved enough and trying to coast through the game!
Ashley Young is class and his experience is invaluable, don't know how Targett will get his place back.
Cash was much improved and great to see.
Luiz started very well but certainly tired in the second half.
El Ghazi was immense for the penalty, besides the absurd long wait for the decision, the Newcastle players were all having a go at him especially the keeper, under the circumstances it was a brilliant penalty, ice cool for the ice man!
Mings was Mings, solid!
Konsa still needs to up his game especially for better teams than Newcastle.
Ings had little service as our midfileld (should be Buendia but he went awol) still can't play the ball early enough for Ing's runs off the defenders shoulder. His goal was absolutely brilliant, initially the scoreboard came up with Buendia as the scorer but I knew that was wrong immediately as only one Villa player could have scored that goal and he was Ings! Class finisher!
McGinn works his socks off but I am beginning to wonder if it is totally constructive as he doesn't seem to work WITH our midfield.

Overall a win but hardly convincing, still when we do eventually get all our players fit we can make a proper judgement.

A couple of points:
Wish we had Saint-Maximin, he is a player that makes things happen, always a constant danger as he has pace and the ability to beat a player, priceless qualities.
Wesley came on for 6 minutes and looked over weight and totally disinterested, hope I don't have to see him again!

Got back to double up with Cash on Maxim a lot in first half
played some nice through balls

Bullshit, not once did I sing about Keith and Julie.
