3 points on the board. The team are still getting  to know each other.

Great to see VP with all the fans back.
Definitely play Young at LB,
Best game I've seen Ramsey play.
Beudilia looked promising.
Is Mings carrying a rib injury?
Why did Emi still get a yellow when the pen appeal was offside?
Goal of the season contender from Mings.

3 points against Brentford please.

Three points and Ramsey looks the biz.
Let’s hope we can buy a couple more players next week and ship AEG out.

Dangerous play, i'd imagine.

Felt quite comfortable tbh.

Didn't feel like we were in danger at any point.

Ings is a gem.

Chanelled our Inner Tony Pulis Stoke to get that one.

I didnt think we played well at all to be honest, no real pattern of play other than to smash it long.

Fair play for digging in though and getting the victory in circumstances that I don't think we would of done in previous seasons.

Props to the new Set Piece coach, earned his money today.

Hopefully Bailey, Watkins and Sanson back next week.

I thought we were fine. We've seen that performance from a Bruce team many times where killing the game was the only plan and whilst it stopped us creating as many chances as we'd have liked we had the quality to get the goals we needed. Martinez was barely involved in the game and other than the early chance for Wilson I can't think of any time where I was worried they might score.

I'm not sure why there was so much moaning on the match thread.

To be fair the bar codes were abysmal.  But you can not beat what is in front of you

Moaning = criticism I disagree with. You were content with what you saw, I wasn't so much. Doesn't make either of us bad people, you know.

That'll do. Plenty to work on, but did enough today. Midfield way better, and Ramsey is looking very promising.

Yup. SJM, Dougie and Ramsey all put in a massive shift. 3 valuable points, an amazing goal, superb second from our penalty taker and special praise for Mings the Lionheart who led by example.

Clean sheet, comfortable victory without playing well at all. Alot of improvement to be made but with that team full of injuries cant be too harsh.

Ramsey was reallh good today

Good to be up and running to get last week out their systems.  Room for improvement of course, but hopefully getting there

We talk about the injuries, about the pre-season, but here's the thing. Those centre-backs and midfielders have all been here for years, were mostly first-choice and can all pass the ball. If they aren't moving well enough off the ball to found a way round Newcastle's press - not them sitting in, but when they were pressing the ball - that's because the coaching staff, for years, haven't managed to instill it in them. I'm delighted with the win (at home, with some luck, over relegation candidates), but Europe? I just can't see it, which is a bit deflating. I obviously hope to be massively wrong.

No I meant what I typed, and for what it's worth I didn't count you as moaning because you actually had a point behind what you were saying, even if I did disagree.

A better second half but overall not that great. Ramsey was good in flashes and made some nice passes. Buendia was better than last week, but still too easily dispossessed and a bit slow. Strangely flat atmosphere in the ground.

One of the best goals you’ll ever see from Ings though.  All those ‘stockpiled’ midfielders and Smith brings Tuanzebe on to play there.
