Read that DS said Luiz will be “managed” as he’s only had a couple of training sessions with us. Looks like the only Brazilian player that came back from the olympics that can’t play just yet.
Expected return dates for our injured players…between Xmas and the end of the season, the usual Villa way.

To be fair, he's not had much of a break at all and we've got a whole season ahead of us. It might be a wise thing to do, we don't want to knacker him out.
And also Traore had only had a couple of sessions and got himself injured, so I get it from that point of view.  With that said, I think Luiz should be ready, he only had a couple of weeks off and should be fit enough to start surely?

Unless one of you is Dean Smith I don’t see the point in arguing about the starting x1

I agree although I love how we all go into armchair manager mode. Some of you must have been panzer generals in a former life!

Everton's Richarlison played last weekend and scored in the 3-1 win over Southampton. Why can't Douglas start tomorrow? He's had an extra week off more than Richarlison and should surely be match fit?

Has anyone, anywhere, apart from on here said anything about Bailey being injured?

Nobody official said Quisling was injured until he was missing from the Leicester lineup. Best to assume the worst and you won't be disappointed when it comes to Villw injuries.

Reporter saying Smith told her Bailey unlikely to start. Though that could just be because he's not fully match fit yet rather than because he has picked up and injury, I suppose.

Well it seems we played Targett last week while not match fit and that didn’t work out too well, so maybe that’s why Luiz will be managed and Bailey not starting.

We absolutely cannot field Young/AEG on the wings again and Nakamba in front of the back four.

Bailey is undercooked… like a few of them.

We can play AEG.  I know he's inconsistent, but he is capable of a decent performance and has an eye for goal.

I'd prefer Bailey to start, but if it's AEG then so be it.  We're only playing Newcastle FFS.

After that press conference, I’ll admit I’m a little concerned about tomorrow.

All quite downbeat I thought. Almost certainly no more players coming in, lots about the existing squad being "undercooked" and Bailey to start on the bench again. I reckon he'll start with the same team as last week, with the possible exception of Ramsey in for Nakamba, but with Young and El Ghazi out wide still.

Dean's presser with the non-print media is on Pravda now. On Bailey he said that he didn't have enough minutes under his belt yet but I don't think he ruled him out starting. No mention at all of an injury or knock.

Christ.  Thanks God it's only Newcastle, we could still get away with it.

this should be plenty good enough but with half the team, particularly Targett, Luiz, Sanson & Bailey, massively undercooked it could be another insipid weekend

                Martinez
Cash   Konsa   Mings   Targett/Young
             Luiz/Nakamba
        Mcginn      Sanson/Ramsey
Buendia                        Bailey/AEG
                 Ings

Can just feel the optimism ebbing away at the moment.
