He's had one good season in his four with us.

Not sure why people always say this when he clearly had two good seasons. He was involved in about half of all our good moments in 2022/23 when we went from Gerrard-ball to Europe. Weird revisionism.

Appreciate that not everyone will see it this way, but I recall the story as follows:

Versus Leeds not long after Unai arrived, he missed an open goal late on, and the resulting crisis of confidence hit his form badly.

That kept him on the margins until Liverpool away at the start of the 23-24 season, whem he came on early (did we have a sending off?) and then was pulled in the second half. He looked done.

Not many players come back from that, but he did. By the time of the famous Man City home game, however, he was still only basically a supersub, aiming to "help the team". It was only after that game that he really got rocking.

His good form seemed to come to an abrupt halt first game of the season 24-25, when he hit the post against the Spammers, with an open goal gaping. This time, he didn't ever seem to get over it.

Bit gutted that this rumour is from a poor source.  Bailey was great for us for a season or so, but his journey with us feels over, so any cash would be a bonus.

Signed for £25m and he’s been here five years, so nearly fully amortised and Roma paid for a year of that. I reckon anything over £4m and shedding his salary is a really good deal for Villa. £12m would be fantastic.
