I'm not sure he deserves the hostility. He played a vital role in getting us back to Europe after over a decade then in getting us into the Champions League for the first time ever. It hasn't worked out since, but I'll still wish him well.

It was more like a large half of a season, but still, he really was magic. He was even starting to sound like a leader.

Shame that form and confidence have been so cruel.

Signed for £25m and he’s been here five years, so nearly fully amortised and Roma paid for a year of that. I reckon anything over £4m and shedding his salary is a really good deal for Villa. £12m would be fantastic.
