I think he looked desperate to impress, which made him a bit selfish and made the wrong decisions. Defensively he has always been weak.

He has one year on his contract, he’ll go this summer, one way or another.

Something to cheer us all up🤞

He's on £120k pw (£6.2m).
£12-15m will be fine by me.

He stands at our books at about £3m.

The Roma buy option (which they sensibly declined imo) was €22m/£19m - what a deal that would have been !!

I'd say he's exactly what Hull need. Every promoted team needs a bit of grit in their side.

Take Bailey and they’ll have grit in their eyes.

I'm not sure he deserves the hostility. He played a vital role in getting us back to Europe after over a decade then in getting us into the Champions League for the first time ever. It hasn't worked out since, but I'll still wish him well.

Yeah, i don't get the hostility either. He had one good season but overall, he wasn't quite good enough but it wasn't through lack of effort. Best of luck to him.

One of my favourite players of the last decade. Fabulous when on good form. I hope if he does leave for Hull that he rediscovers his form (not against us though obviously).

He's had one good season in his four with us.

It's another cost saving on the wage bill.

Not sure why people always say this when he clearly had two good seasons. He was involved in about half of all our good moments in 2022/23 when we went from Gerrard-ball to Europe. Weird revisionism.

It was said on one of the Villa pods that Roma paid all his wages plus a year of his amortisation for that loan, even after he came back. Still, they did well out of the Malen deal.

If so (the first bit) and we sell him for the fee quoted, we’ve done well there.

Very likeable character, and absolute class for that one season.

Yeah, he seems to attract a lot of unnecessary hostility.

The same "Doug was shit in his last half season and when he came back". Fcuk me, it's all so black and white.
