He had plenty of pace and balance when he skinned a couple of players down the left wing to tee up Watkins vs Brentford. We hadn't seen wing play like that for years. There are other examples too. He's inconsistent but he's not lacking the attributes he needs. Whether he can add the consistency and increase his output/goal contributions remains to be seen but if he doesn't, he will lose his starting spot.
brother said he was playing wrong side of pitch

The absence of anything resembling a right foot means he should definitely play on the left.

To take a comment from another thread, Villa needs players who can consistently turn in a 7-8 out of 10 performance. Bailey ain't going to be doing that any time soon; if ever.
As Paul_e says above, he's better on the left, and Emery seems to - one again - have stuck him on the right. Whatever, but unless he can show consistent contribution to the team he's not going to make it here. IMHO.

I wonder if he doesn’t trust Bailey and Digne on the same side?

When I heard about this miss I was expecting Ronnie Rosenthal.  It wasn’t that blooming easy.  He had more time than he thought though to set himself.  I would persevere with him.  There’s a good player there.  Does show that the German league is way below the standard in this country at least from a physical perspective.

If the opportunity had been on the other side we’d have 24 points right now. It was very fast, a defender draped all over him, a keeper racing out in the last seconds of the game on his weaker side. Maybe he should have scored but it’s been made out by some like it was an open net. It wasn’t.

It as a bad miss for a Premier League striker, at the very least he should have got it on target.

He’s not really a striker though, and I’ve seen actual PL strikers miss easier chances.

I think it was the fact he shot wide that got so much criticism. Had he got it on target and the defender cleared, it would have been seen as a great bit of defending.

Which given the angle it was a low percentage opportunity. He also likely wouldn’t have got a lot of pace on the shot being it was his weaker foot. So the likelihood the defender might have got there anyway was quite high. Should he have done better? I think we all think that and so does he. But it wasn’t as easy as it first appeared or has been made out to be by some.

As I said afterwards, at the time I was cursing him to eternal hellfire. Watching it later on TV I realised it wasn't anywhere near as easy.

Thinking back, he should have done better with that chance he created early in the first half as well. It was a naff finish.

Quite. He was much better balanced and it was on his left foot.

He's definitely not a striker. He's not even a particularly effective winger.

He gets it on target and there's more than a 70% chance he scores. Even the defender wouldn't have covered the post or might have shinned it in.
