I realise some posters want Bailey shipped out in January, but now he is starting to get a run of games he is starting to look a player who can not only score but create.

Looked good Sunday and looked good on the ball last night, I hope he continues to improve under Emery.

It would be absolute fucking insanity to sell him in january.  It was blindingly obvious what his problem was up to now. I've total faith in emery to get the best out of him.

He is so obviously a confidence player. He’s now getting the chance to build that and we are seeing what we thought we were getting when we bought him.

Bailey run

Bailey run - superb

Watkins touch - not quite so superb

Like a horse trying to control a beachball.  Again.

Yes, he looked a clumsy oaf but, to be fair to him, looked the complete opposite for his goal.

Unfortunately this season the clumsy cart horse touches outnumber the good ones leading to goals by about 20 to 1.

Yes, but...  "clean slate", remember? So far under Emery he has one excellent all round performance and one excellent goal in the subsequent game.

Not only his play with the ball, he won it back a few times too and looked at lot more physical in his game.

Yeah, that's fair point, he took it very well.

He can be such a frustrating player.

He was trying to chop the ball back to shoot with his right, trying to be decisive I thought rather than holding it and laying it off, but he just completely fucked the touch up. It happens.

Watkins for the first time finished like a proper striker for his goal. The “trapping the ball like a horse moment” wasn’t required as he had it under control already but contrived to make a mess of it. He has a habit of stopping and checking which allows the defender to adjust his shape to make defending easier. If he keeps moving there’s a better chance of getting a shot off.

Outrageous skill by Bailey mind. More of that and we’ll have a real player.

That run was like what Grealish used to do. Perfect weight of pass to set Watkins free too.

Thought Bailey looked good again when he came on last night.  Hopefully he can really have a good run when the games resume after the World Cup.

After that he went down clutching his leg. A tad embarrassed more than injured. It reminded me of a school cup game 30 year ago and a player missed an absolute sitter. He went down and blamed an imaginary crater in the floor.

Did you… I mean he, ever get any better?
