JJ is the one that looks hesitant or nervous to me. I haven't seen him dribble a ball more then 10yds this year - stark contrast to last season.

What about the first 5 minutes against Everton - he ran from his own half directly into their box and won a corner?  I do agree the positioning of him is stopping a certain amount of his natural game

It's the same for all of them, and it's making them all look shit. That split second of indecision at this level is fucking deadly.

..and what about his performances against Bournemouth and Palace validate that single example?

but you said you hadn't seen him dribble more than 10 yards, the existence of a single 60-70yard dribble proves you wrong, shifting the goalposts afterwards doesn't change that.

 ;D

I was moreso alluding to the fact that he was valued here for his ability to carry the ball into the final third last season. Which we have rarely seen this year. I appreciate your careful lifeguarding of literal meanings on an online football forum. Jesus wept.

Erm, ok then, say that.

Also, the comment was about confidence, JJ not carrying the ball as much seems, to me, more to do with him being asked to hold his position 20-30 yards deeper this season than he was doing last year. It actually started around March/April time where Gerrard clearly lost his bottle with letting the midfield play their natural game whilst the fullbacks bombed on.

If you look at average position maps for Ramsey since then he's basically playing as a left back, there's no chance that is something he's decided to do himself and I think it's pretty clear that by being asked to play so deep and cover for Digne he's struggling.

On Bailey i agree with Hookey, when he starts games he's fine but when he gets subbed on he seems to need to 'feel the love' early on, if he gets tackled the first time he takes a pass he does seem to get a bit down on himself. I suspect he's just desperate to prove that the manager was wrong to not start him and gets into his head a little about it.

Again on Sunday he attempted something, fucked it up and as soon as there were a few groans in the crowd looked to suddenly get an injury. The ball unexpectedly came back to him and he sprang back into life.

Well, that didn't happen.

I absolutely agree with this.

He is clearly desperate to prove what he can do, and is one of the clearest examples of a confidence player I've seen in a long time.

I think they all lack confidence because the manager has lost his. We’re just pissing away valuable time now.

Well this is his chance. He’s got to take it with both hands and make himself impossible to drop.
