He looks like he had a good pre season, is fit and looks stronger and bulkier too.

Good lad. It's great seeing him play so well.

Yes mate.  Like a new player since he's started doing that.

He has become an ever more important member of the squad.

Watch his run again for the 3rd goal tonight, could easily have gone offside - I guarantee Watkins would - but instead cleverly angled his run just enough to ensure he got in behind the defender.  Great game from Leon.

didn’t someone post stats on this the other day, Watkins is rarely off-side nowadays?

Being given offside is different from making a stupid run into an offside position that the midfielder sees and doesn't give you the ball.

You do realise that some of the runs are made to drag opposition players out of position. He also will make runs for the option but if the pass is too slow, will also be offside. The reason we have had so few is that the possession player is also intelligent enough to retain the possession if the pass is not on. If you are picking up players running into an offside position in those situations, add two more at least for the goals scored by Bailey and Tieleman as Watkins runs dragged defenders away from them but he ran into offside positions.

Get a new contract sorted (and hope his form doesn't drop post contract).

I feel like Emery has always rated Bailey and even though he hasn’t started much he’s contributed pretty well since Emery arrived.  He now looks on great form and I’m excited every times he plays.  Excellent last night.

Has to start ahead of Zaniolo in the league, Bailey has far more nous.

Grealish advise him on the rolled-down socks? Cheers Jack.

That was his best game for us so far.

Really looked dangerous.

I like Bailey.

I was hoping that he could turn around his form & be a big player for us.

And by the sounds if it, he has a big role within the squad that he appears very happy with.

The pressure is off him a bit now. Hopefully he can continue to go out & express himself...

Diaby coming in seems to have helped him a bit or made him up his game.

Credit to Bailey for how much his right foot crossing has improved. It was noticeable how many he tried tonight vs AZ.

It used to be that he never even tried, but now seems confident to take that option - which is to his advantage as the defender can no longer  just block him cutting back onto his left. It’s not Digne levels, but I think you can tell he’s been working on it.
