It was a red card for me. How on earth Emi gets a yellow for a fair challenge and that thug gets nothing is a disgrace.

Especially when the ref is staring straight at it, and then doesn't seem to notice Buendia is down clutching his head for another 20 seconds.

Not to defend the Burnley lad, but was it a case of Buendia's diminutive size counting against him? i.e it's natural to shield players away from you/the ball, you just don't tend to do it at neck height cos they're usually taller.

No excuse for me, even if you're fending off that was far too aggressive.

Yep, the one angle showed that he was looking right at the contact and can't possibly have not seen it. No idea how he didn't give at least a yellow card.

I agree, although we got away with a similar incident involving Mings a while ago.

It is what was once caled the Mary Poppins Manoeuvre, in which you raise an elbow to repel an opponent. Alan Shearer said it was looking after yourself.

Yes, I was thinking about that last season at Bournemouth. The big difference for me was that the Bournemouth player actually fouled Mings and self preservation came into play. The Burnley thug just threw out his elbow.

All through the game Burnley players were complaining of elbows when there were none, yet when the most blatant elbow occurred nothing happened.

Watching it on MOTD2, the tell-tale signs were he had a quick look behind him and he swung an arched elbow.  It was a bad one and I don't know what the VAR official was looking at.

Surely we can find another Scott Hoganesque baller within the multitude of buy to loan players to offload to them.

Isn't the guy who wrote that story based in Nottingham? I'm sure I've seen Leigh Curtis interviewed about Nottingham Forest in the past.

Mid table Championship side who lost 150% their entire turnover last season and have financial issues are believed to be readying a £15m bid for an international player who plays in the Premier league and European football.

Sounds really believable.

If he went there and scored a couple of goals they'd be naming Brigadoom after him, so you can see why he might be tempted.

That was a really nasty elbow and I've no idea why there was no sanction.

I'm loving what Buendia is doing for us though, he's busy and energetic and driving us on, which helps McGinn out; they both have a great attitude.

As for a link to him going there, haha.
