Angus Kinnear (Leeds CEO): “Buendía was on our list, & very clearly (the feedback) from Aston Villa — he wasn’t going to be released, & the player didn’t want to come back down. He felt he’d served his time at Championship level.

Be interesting to see if he gets any minutes soon. He was always pissed off when he was subbed, so I can't see him being happy being an unused sub every week. I do wonder if we've out grown him and he'll need to move on in January?

He played 77 minutes in the U21's match so he's steadily getting match fit. He was looking good last pre-season, very sharp and harder to knock off the ball. He'll be getting more minutes soon, even if it's only Wycombe and Bolton. He might be used as an impact sub for a while and if he does well in those, he might start making a claim to be in the side from the start.

Obviously it depends how each match is going but I reckon there's a good chance we'll see him make an appearence or two from the bench and then start at Wycombe.

Surely that's just sensible man management to mitigate the risk of another injury.

It does feel like we have outgrown him, but he was showing signs if stepping up before his injury so I wouldn’t be in a hurry to sell him.  At least give Emery this season to work with him.

Given Duran doesn't press much, I wonder if a double substitution with Duran coming on with Buendia to replace Watkins and, say, Rogers might be the way we go in games.

Buendia's high-press style suits the way Emery wants to play, so I'd be amazed if the club got rid anytime soon. Contract's up in 2026?, so this next 12 months is pretty important for both parties.
