Once we start seeing any of those things we can start to make clearer predictions. Carlos isn't a particularly good example because by the time he came back we were in no hurry to get him into the team. I reckon he could've played a lot more than he did if we weren't in a run of conceding 8 in 15 to finish the season with one of the strongest defences in the league.

Was just thinking along these lines. I hope we're in a good position league wise, and still in Europe, maybe a cup too, so that there's plenty of opportunities for him to get game time once he's ready for it, without there being too much pressure on him, or it being the case where we can't risk playing a rusty player back into fitness/form.

They said 8 months earlier on Sky.

They said 8 months based on Emery saying 6-8 months. Sky as usual take the most extreme option. Truth is until the scans are all done and he starts the rehab and recovery process, it might be 6 or could be longer than 8. He’s a fit bloke is Buendia and determined. I’ll take the bet he will play again this season.

When you start listing the names you do wonder who we’ve upset; Bunedia, Diego Carlos, Wesley, Tom Heaton, Jordan Amavi, Darren Bent, Wilfred Bouma, Martin Laursen, Carl Tiler, Luc Nilis... I mean, Heaton and Wesley we’re in one game, one half even!

Some list. As DW mentioned, Benteke too.  There's also Trezeguet.

Okore too.

Not by any means an official source for updates on player injuries, but the Fantasy Football site had Buendia listed as due to return Feb 10th. (For comparison Mings is still listed as return date unknown.)

Has anyone heard anything about him lately? Is there likely any truth in it?

He’s definitely a lot further ahead than Mings, nothing official though.

Was it ever really confirmed what Buendia's exact injury was? We all saw Mings' happen so knew it was bad.

How do they define 'return' though? Is that when he'll be able to join in training?

Ming's might be worse because it's a reoccurrence of an injury he's had before.

I'd assume they mean playing as that's what's relevant to the Fantasy Football game. But it's not exactly reliable. I've seen players listed as red before and they end up playing that week. They have James Maddison down as due back mid Jan, but Ange said about a week ago that he wasn't even close to training with the squad again yet.

I thought it was the other leg.

I thought it was said to be the same as Tyrone’s?
However, my guess is that as it was a training injury it might not have been as severe.

Yeah, my understanding is it was the same body part, but I think there's different grades to which it can be injured. That Gavi lad had a complete tear, for example, and was looking at 8 - 10 months out. Buendia was in that Halloween video of Moreno jumping out at people, and while not running he was walking around looking quite uninhibited.

He did both ACL's (separately) when he was younger.

Moreno was the Halloween frightener, not Emi.

Moreno was the Halloween frightener, not Emi.

I believe AV84's point was that Emi was featured walking in normally in the video, rather than him being the person doing the "scaring".
