Without wanting to sound harsh, he didn’t look excellent in pre season, he did against Newcastle and scored a great goal against Valencia, bit otherwise he was fairly ineffectual and don’t think he would of been near starting for us.

Pretty sure he would have been. He was clearly first choice in that position last season, and we haven't signed anyone to play that position instead of him.

Feel really really sorry for the player, just shit news. Not great for the club either in terms of squad depth.

Saying all that, i have huge sympathy for him.

Agree with every word, gutted for him and it does see us lose a player who can have an impact but there's plenty of other players who'd be a far bigger loss for us and have been in far better form this year.

Depth wise I think we're still alright, although the likes of Philogene and Coutinho aren't likely to be pushing for starts in the same way Buendia would have been. But we've brought in 2 really good midfielders, looked really good in pre season in terms of options, and still have Ramsey to come back too.

The club don't know the extent of the injury and he will have it scanned. Hopefully it's not his ACL.

I believe we can safely rule out any good news, otherwise they’d have said nothing

Fingers crossed for a miracle but doesn't sound good. Doubt we'll see much of gin this season now.

Get well soon Emi ❤️

He might not have been guaranteed or first choice to the degree he was last season mainly due to a lack of quality options, but he was a player Emery clearly liked. Not just for his ability (albeit inconsistent at times), but his overall tenacity, work rate and determination. A player the manager could rely on.

As it stands I see 'significant' as being half a season or more so, until we get more details, I'm going to assume he's out until Christmas.

Especially gutting as he ran the show in pre-season against Newcastle, who we are playing on Saturday.

Using the current squad he isn't/wasn't first choice. Realistically he should be behind Phil too.

However, It's a massive shame and it reduces the options from the bench, but we have a better squad than 12 months ago and time to find an adequate replacement.

How long does a knee ligament injury take to heal? Depending on the severity of the injury, a torn ligament can take anything from 4-10 weeks to heal, longer if surgery is required. It is important not to try and rush back to normal activities too quickly, as this can lead to further damage.

Emi Buendia via Instagram:

If my parents taught me anything since I was a kid, it's to never give up, and this bad time I have to live is no exception.

Already positive and minded in a good and speedy recovery.

Thank you very much for all the messages ♥️

I’m actually gutted about this but not just from a footballing perspective.  He just seems like a really ace bloke and always tries his heart out and was definitely coming into his own.

Realistically PC has played at best 2 decent games in 12 months! Buendia for all his flaws is simply miles ahead of him.

Buendia is a big loss, looked stronger and fitter this summer and ready to compete for his spot. ACL isn't as bad an injury these days and he isn't a player that relied on his pace so hopefully will make a full recovery.
