You have to figure that with the wording from Emi and the club that it's gonna be close to a worst case scenario.

Really bad news, gutted to see it confirmed. I don't think we have anyone else who brings what Buendia does. Rotten news.

I’m actually gutted about this but not just from a footballing perspective.  He just seems like a really ace bloke and always tries his heart out and was definitely coming into his own.
Same.  I love the bloke.

On a positive note, it now gives other players a brilliant opportunity to stake a claim!

It is still a bitter blow for us however!

How long does a knee ligament injury take to heal? Depending on the severity of the injury, a torn ligament can take anything from 4-10 weeks to heal, longer if surgery is required. It is important not to try and rush back to normal activities too quickly, as this can lead to further damage.

“Significant” is the key word. If, as it’s stated an ACL injury (the ligament that goes through the knee)and it’s a complete tear it will be 12 months. It’s repaired by taking ligament from the hamstring and attaching the torn ligament to it. A lot of healing to take place. He might be walking in 3 months, playing football at the highest level… minimum 12 months I’d say.

A lot of ifs there:

If it's an ACL injury (nothing has been specified)
If it's a full tear
If it requires a transplant

There are plenty of other ligaments in and around the knee and plenty of things you can do to them before a full tear which means we're speculating based on trying to interpret what they mean by significant.

Best case scenario is he'll be out until around Christmas so lets just go with that for now and then adjust expectations once we get more details, I'd guess that's about how the club are taking it right now.

We're gonna need someone in especially after last night's news. Perhaps don't send Archer out and maybe we get Doku after all.

If it's an ACL, 6-9 months might be closer. There's 3 main ligaments in the knee - Anterior (ACL), Medial (MCL) and Posterior (PCL). Posterior is the worst one you can do and then you're looking at 12 months.

Saw the rumour on here last night and hoped it was bollocks. Gutted for him that it's true. He looked like he had beefed up a bit so that he would be harder to knock off the ball and I liked what I saw from him in pre-season.

I presume we'll look to bring someone in to replace him. A season long loan move for someone could be a good move if we can find someone who fits the profile.

Really need to bring another person in now. Good, solid if sometimes underrated player and we need his zip and energy. I wonder if this why we are being linked with the Italian lad?

I can't see the club saying "significant" if there's a decent chance it's going to be a best case scenario. We can hope it is but I reckon the odds are stacked towards him being out for most, if not all, of the season.
