It’s way too early to right him off.
Comparisons to Gil are laughable

Not at the moment they're not. We can't go off anything else until Smith plays him in his correct position, and so far playing centrally, he looks weak and gets bullied off the ball constantly.

It's unlike you not to give a player time.

Not his fault but at 40 million notes you would expect better.

Would rather just play Bailey wide right tbh.

Not sure what we do on the left, suspect we'll just put Ollie there but he's not really playing well enough to justify a starting place.

This is why we needed to buy an actual left winger in the summer. For all the money we got for Jack, signing a genuine replacement that could hold the ball and play a pass was something we should have been shooting and trying to find for the last year knowing he would likely go. Poor from the the club to not buy one. Even worse was not pushing harder for Benrahma last summer because he could have stepped in there nicely.

Anyhow, play Bailey left and Buendia right for a few games, get Ramsey in the midfield 3 and drop Ings. Watkins moves more. See how it goes.

Near the start of this thread I said I was worried about him handling the physical side of the league and that was as a winger, in central midfield he is totally lost. The worst thing is that this could easily turn the fans against him and it's not his fault, his choices, right now, are to sit in the pocket of a big bastard like Partey or sit on the bench because we've spent something like £80m on wingers over the last 2 summers and then decided to play without them.

This, yes. There are not many players you see who is so easy to just bump off the ball. It's just astonishing. But he is clearly not helped by Smith's incomprehensible formation choice so I will try to keep an open mind.

We got ripped off. 40m for a very average player that is not consistent at all.

Hugely disappointing signing so far for me

He's a wide player. Play him wide or not at all.

Yep it’s baffling. You wouldn’t sign Kante and play him centre half would you?

Yep. Could see last night exactly why we targeted Smith Rowe as a replacement for you know who. Way he glided in from the left and picked space with ease totally did us.

If we'd had him and then Buendia/Bailey for right side we'd look far more balanced.

Currently for left side the options are out of form Ollie who's never really played there in prem, El Ghazi with all his pros and cons and JPB who's young and untested.

If it's a straight choice between Buendia and Ramsey, it has to be Ramsey right now. Not writing Buendia off but tell him to fight for his place and justify it when he gets a chance. Sanson is another option too.

Nah, he'd have played him right back.
