Thought he played well against Wolves but was poor tonight and is very light weight. Looking like Gil mk2

He is a good player.  You can also see he really gives a shit too.

He will be great when he is played in his natural position in a balanced team  - not the present car crash.

He's obviously a very talented player and not his fault the team is a shambles

But he seems half a yard short at the moment...and that surprises me... As a result he is struggling with his first touch, struggling to shield and protect the ball....a bit worrying really

He's tiny and he's not very quick, so playing him centrally is ridiculous. He's clearly got skill though, can pick a pass, and has quick feet. Stick him where he played for Norwich, otherwise what was the point in buying him? This 5-3-2 has literally brought the best out of absolutely nobody.

The main problem is that he’s not very good - certainly not a 1/3rd of Joe

We buy Traore, EL Ghazi, Trezeguet, Bailey and Buendia. All wide players, for the best part of £100m. Then pick a formation where we play with no wingers and use full backs pushed forward, neither of who can beat a man or cross the fucking road.

It's brain dead stuff from Smith at the moment.

He'll be fine when we play him in position.

Let’s hope they put us in charge instead of Smith then!

We'd do a better job than that waster Ads did, I know that much.

Near the start of this thread I said I was worried about him handling the physical side of the league and that was as a winger, in central midfield he is totally lost. The worst thing is that this could easily turn the fans against him and it's not his fault, his choices, right now, are to sit in the pocket of a big bastard like Partey or sit on the bench because we've spent something like £80m on wingers over the last 2 summers and then decided to play without them.

He's nowhere near the class of Grealish. Physically, speed wise, ability on the ball, control, infact line up every single asset and Grealish is head and shoulders above Buendia. Which isn't to say he's a bad player, he isn't, but we've a massive Grealish shaped hole in the side at the moment and playing this guy Number 10 isn't going to start filling it in.

I’m not sure Jack was an amazing no.10 either.

I assumed that Buendia was going to play on the right of Watkins, with Bailey on the left. I suppose I reckoned without Smith feeling that he's got to play both Ings and Watkins though.

Maybe just maybe play him in his best role of wide right 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yep, Bailey, Watkins, Buendia as a 3 with Ings and Traore rotating in and the likes of AEG, JPB and Davis getting the odd game was my thinking in the summer, replace Davis with Archer and it's still the best way to set us up right now. I'd still want to pick and choose games to put Buendia on the bench (I wouldn't play him against Burnley for example) but at least on the right he won't come up against guys a foot taller, 4-5 stone heavier and quicker than him.

Yes, he is a right sided player who can cut in from the left. Have a look at his left footed shot at goal tonight.

Would rather just play Bailey wide right tbh.

Not sure what we do on the left, suspect we'll just put Ollie there but he's not really playing well enough to justify a starting place.
