Can't remember the last time we signed someone and every single supporter of their former club was gutted and thought we'd signed their one outstanding player.

Young from Watford?

Martinez last year got that sort of reaction. They were gutted.

They weren't pleased by it, sure. But there was very little "he's in the top one of players I've seen play for us"

I think much of the ire from Norwich fans is because they've convinced themselves Buendia is a "champions league player", and that if he's only being bought by a "mid-table Premier League team", why not just keep him?

What they don't know, what few people who don't really follow football finances know, is that we have brilliant owners with deep pockets and we are NOT fucking around.

They feel much the way we would have a few years back had Jack joined Spurs instead of someone challenging for the title.  I sympathise, a small amount, but in the next couple of years they'll hopefully realise what a good move this has been for the player...

Imagine the Norwich board thinking like the twitter fanbase: 😂

Sorry Aston Villa we don't want your money because we finished above you three years ago and regard you as a relegation rival.

Did they miss the part where we spent £100 million on staying up??
Oh and keeping hold of our best player obviously.

Actually I have a long standing friend Norwich fan of 30 years and he is fairly philosophical.

To Beta-carotene or not to Beta-carotene?

Sorry if I’ve missed it, but can’t see this confirmed anywhere. Nothing on the AVFC app. Is it done and dusted?

Even most of them are saying he's a great signing, he must be good. Also Liverpool fans describing it as a coup for Villa and wishing they'd gone for him.

Excellent signing if it happens, and now it looks like we've beaten one of their favourite clubs to a player how long till the media start the baseless speculative bullshit about Jack?
Oh and Norwich fans opinions? Who fucking cares, deep down they know that every member of staff from the 1st team players to the tea lady would walk over broken glass to join the Villa.

And how do you feel when Manure fans say the same about us?

Food chain.

No but every reputable journalist or site of note is reporting all of the formalities are completed. Relax, enjoy the news and the warm sunshine of optimism.

I still have some reservations about him coping with the extra pace and physicality, he was great in the championship in 18/19 and then struggled in a lot of the 19/20 PL games where he got bullied. However the highlights from last year show him being a lot more physical than he was so I'm optimistic that it has been addressed. If that is the case his technical ability is undoubtedly world class, the call up for Argentina is a big positive for me though because I don't think they'd have got him involved if there were still question marks.

Now bring on a top quality DM who can make us harder to break through in the middle (and free up the other midfielders to play 5-10yards higher up the pitch) and finish up with a couple of youngsters and someone with an extra yard of pace to play up front or out wide a an option.

He was 4th in the chances created stats during his only season in the premier league, which strikes me as pretty good going for a creative player that got 'bullied'...

Last time I checked footballers in the Championship are grown men, often more aggressive than their more refined contemporaries in the PL. You don’t need to be physical to be good. You just need to be good. And Buendia is very good.

I remember a few years ago, Jack was in the Championship, and there were questions if he could hack it in the Prem.  Spurs only wanted to give us 25M for him instead of 40M.  Now he's worth over 100M.  I'm hoping the Emi2 story turns out similar.

I think they both knew at the time of this photo

Having him stand next to the claret and blue balls on the table. Clues were obvious.
