The time served argument is an interesting one. I think the problem is we've never had a 'loyalty point' system like other clubs though, so anything we came up with would be retrospectively applied, which isn't really fair. If it was number of season ticket renewals, I'd be low down the list, however I had one for 20 consecutive years before a 3 year gap ending in 2017 and for the last 3 years have done pretty much every single home and away game.

I'm sure there are lots of others in similar situations, how could you simply and fairly reward people's loyalty retrospectively to get to a 10000 person cap?

As long as I'm always guaranteed a ticket, I'm not arsed.

On an individual basis it would have worked, but for groups of fans booking together how would they have allocated tickets based on length of time having a season ticket if there were different time periods.

Gutted I didn’t get a ticket, but chuffed for everyone that did.

Fair play to everyone lucky enough to get one.

Questionable 'business" decision to piss off many of your most loyal 'customers' by failing to acknowledge them though. Years ago this would have surprised me greatly, but those days are long gone.

Even the FA still have a go at rewarding England fans commitment.

It pains me that I'm not furious or even angry but that's what the game has done to me.

See you next season.

Just hope that the Chelsea game is a lot better, for you chosen few, than last nights match.

I was initially devastated and have to say I still am!

I can’t be anything other than pleased for fellow Villa Fans who are going but having been a season tickets holder since 1981 and cleaned seats at the ground as a kid to get in for free and probably been to 95% of all away games for the last 30 years and seen us play across Europe and the USA and spent, especially when I was younger a large chunk of my disposable income on it..... just a little bit of my love for Us died today.

On the issue of rewarding loyalty versus giving everybody the same chance of a ticket, I’d say the England travel club have the fairest method for away games and tournaments which could work at club level too.

70% of the allocation goes on a loyalty basis to those who’ve attended most games, with the other 30% going into a random ballot which gives new supporters a chance to get on the ladder and avoid it becoming a closed shop.

Ultimately with just 10k allowed some long servers would've been disappointed whatever the selection method.

Personally I'd have given away 1k of the tickets to local health workers and hope we do that next season so that would've miffed some of you off more!

Also would prefer we got a more normal matchday experience before I start going again next season e.g. no masks, can mill no problem in concourse and can rock up at five to three and get in so who knows how long into next season before that all occurs like the old days.

Spoke to a Newcastle fan I know earlier who's got tickets for their home game next midweek v Sheffield United. Says he has to be in his seat a minimum of 45 minutes before kick off so you can just about get away with that sort of thing in May but won't be that many willing next November-December.

I have WON a ticket which I have to pay for. Now I have to go through the rigmarole of buying it. Is it worth the hassle as I had so much hassle getting into the draw in the first place? Villa don’t make anything simple, and I still have all of these vouchers to use. Can I use one to buy the ticket? So many questions…..

I'm in! Feels great to go again after so long away. I hope the ticket purchasing is easier than setting up the ID, linking accounts etc.! Commiserations to those who did'nt get in.

Were the ballot rules clear from the onset?
I assume it was simply names in a hat, etc with no weighting to "length of service"?
