Putting aside the 7-2 and the win at the Emirates, for me this was the performance of the season. 3/4 of the way through, a couple of places and more than a few points lower than Everton. Villa didn’t completely outclass them, but they were better and it felt comfortable. No player below a 7/10. Happiest I’ve been all season. And to do it without our best player.

That was ace...can we play them every week ?

Ollie edged out Barkley for MOTM due to Barkley letting DCL go for their goal.

I'm really loving our fullbacks too...Cash & (especially) Targett have been brilliant for some time now.

How half arsed was the commentary on the Sky highlights? I’m not sure who the lead commentator was, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard their coverage be so disengaged.
Ian Dark, he is the commentator for the US national team.
Complete Dick.

We had Jim Beglin on Optus Sport in Aus. I usually don’t like what he has to say, but he quite balanced today and gave credit where it was due. Maybe he hates Everton, I don’t know.

McGinn didn't seem to have his radar did he? Worked hard, but a little sloppy.
We seemed to play and pass with pace tonight. McGinn is a bit frantic for that sort of game. Thought he did ok overall.
I thought exactly the same.
For the first time in a long time there was pace and purpose in our play. The movement of players was excellent, demonstrated by many times where there was slick passing, flicks and touches that kept the ball moving.
So much, much better that the tippy, tappy, backwards and sideways dross we have been watching for a while.

We are a far better team when we are on the front foot than when we take 15 passes to get out of our own half.

Perfectly summed up, mate. Is that really our first win there since the 2008 epic?

I thought he was actually the one injecting the pace into our play pulling Gomes & Sig’son all over the place with his constant running & making space for Douglas & Barkley to get on the ball more than we have for a few weeks

Terrific performance, really fun first half, Barkley showing us all up, the wingers on it at the same time for once, McGinn slowly finding his range again, Watkins an actual animal. Even their goal was just a great corner and DCL doing what he does, no need for the blame game. Fine performance and thoroughly deserved win.

Fantastic win and credit to Deano. We took the initiative from the beginning and great to see Targett and Cash getting forward more. Everyone played their part.

When talking about Everton, commentator said 'with the right sequence of results, eighth in the League could qualify for Europe this year'. Not sure what sequence is, but if we beat Everton at home we are in that race.

Happy Easter  :)

I thought the BT commentator gave the most biased commentary for the home team I have heard for a long time.
He seemed to be willing Everton to win.

I’m worried about john e’s hangover. I decided to not have a drink last night. I drink far too quickly watching the Villa games on tv. I think it’s the nerves.

Martinez 7.
Good saves made. Still poor in kicking

Cash 7.
great overlaps and played in a super cross where a goal should have resulted.

Targett 7.5.
solid

Mings 8.
solid impressed Southgate I'm sure. Patient on the ball and played wih intelligence getting ball forward to Watkins

Konsa 6.5.
Pretty poor by his standards .

McGinn 7.5.
Energy and held Midfield together. Getting closer to landing another screamer....

Douglas Luiz 6.
Not good enough today casual passing and foolish for a booking. Found him disappointing to be honest. I like his ability and attempts at little passes and link ups but not really making it work.

Barkley 7. But a low 7.
Better and unlucky not to have scored . Was at fault for the goal conceded. Good to get 90 minutes from him. Greedy with a free kick taken directly at goal when he could play ball into the penalty area for set play. Corners were woeful.

El Ghazi 7.5
Marked up for the goal but generally frustrating as could have punished Everton a lot more but sporadic moments all that he offered. What he did was net the winner- a goal threat and we'll done.

Traore 6.5.
Mixtures  Great in patches but after a spell in Second half became lazy and sloppy passing and carless but also creating and looking lively. Felt could have punished Everton a lot more.

Watkins 9.
unbelievable running . Super play and should have scored more than one . Best player. Great Professional

Ramsey-
Davis -
Agreed on all
