One of the best results all season. Excellent in so many areas against a very good side. And it could have many more tonight. Well done lads. Just superb
-
Really good performance tonight, should've been all over at half time really.
-
Another game missed. Can't wait to see the highlights.
-
Marvellous. Really good display - been a while coming. Well done Ross, good display.
-
They did really well tonight, excellent performances from pretty much everyone. Thoroughly deserved victory.
-
Have missed performances like that. Well done, Villa
-
Great performance.
-
Barkley MOTM
-
Great performance. Frustrating given inconsistencies over last few weeks but well done lads. 9th now
-
Lovely goal to win the game. Very good performance, looked a much better team tonight. Really pleased with that. Back up to 9th with a game in hand. Well done Villa.
-
Barkley MOTM
Watkins for me but Barkley and Mings deserve to be mentioned.
-
That'll do. What a pity we haven't played like that for most of the last 3 months.
-
Fanbloody tastic. I managed to watch the first half with one little eye on it and the whole second half. I enjoyed that. Good game and a brilliant result.
That’s two games on the bounce we’ve looked good again and look good on the ball. Very enjoyable and good on the eye.
-
Barkley MOTM
LOL
-
Much more energy, zip and range of passes.
Too much for Everton.
-
A very good game of football and we were brilliant. As I said in match thread and dare to repeat here Barkley was good and MotM IMO.
-
Just like the old days. We usually got something against Everton before the dark years.
-
Every week please
-
Fantastic first half, second half not so much. Smith once again guilty of leaving it far too late to make changes, but got away with it
-
Barkley MOTM
LOL
Why, he was quality tonight.
-
Best performance since Burnley.
Best performance without Jack, that’s for sure.
-
Barkley MOTM
LOL
Lol what?
-
Best performance since Burnleh first half back in Jan (Jez, that long).
Thought it was one of AEG's quieter games and then he pops up with a bit of quality like that.
-
Barkley MOTM
LOL
Why, he was quality tonight.

Fantastic first half, second half not so much. Smith once again guilty of leaving it far too late to make changes, but got away with it
Are you for real ?
-
Easily our best performance of 2021 there. Thoroughly enjoyable watch.
Hopefully we can kick on for last few games and get another couple of wins and have a strong top 10 finish.
MOTM Ollie but Traore was very very good aswell. AEG on the fringes but top finish.
-
Barkley MOTM
LOL
Why, he was quality tonight.
He was, that’s two good games on the bounce.
If he was a naturally fit athlete like so many footballers around he’d be a fantastic player. Unfortunately I don’t think fitness is his strong point.
-
The result is massive but the performance was very, very good which was particularly pleasing. Great to see us playing with such fluency and confidence.
Fabulous. Well done boys!
-
Fantastic first half, second half not so much. Smith once again guilty of leaving it far too late to make changes, but got away with it
Making what changes? We didn't need to make any.

That’s two games on the bounce we’ve looked good again and look good on the ball. Very enjoyable and good on the eye.
I think the signs were there for few games that we were turning things around, we were unlucky against Liverpool and did a good job of stifling Man City who had to play superbly to beat us. The shame was that we had those 2 straight after the Fulham game so building some momentum from it was tough.
There was clearly a lot more confidence tonight though and that was great to see.
-
That's more like it, much more like it. What a goal by El Ghazi to win it.
Nobody had a bad game.
The only slight downer is that Martinez still doesn't have his clean sheets record.
But other than that: yes! Just, yes!
-
Fantastic result. 13 points and five wins more than after 38 games last season. Great stuff. I hope Barkley has a spell of good games now.
-
Barkley MOTM
LOL
Why, he was quality tonight.
see the pre match thread
Ha ha, get it now!
-
Missed 1st half due to bt connection problems again for the 2nd game running. Not a fan of bt sport.
Great goal by El Ghazi.
I take it the 1st half was better than the 2nd?
Traore (good assist for El Ghazi goal) had another quiet 2nd half. Barkley improved when Villa and he had the ball. A spectator otherwise.
Great win, really pleased with that. UTV!
-
Get in! We might just end up in the top 10 after all!
-
For me, the best performance since the Covid break. I don’t like picking MOM’s but special mention tonight for Luiz Barkley McGinn and Emmy. The second goal was back to early season stuff. Lovely to watch again
-
Thoroughly enjoyable game tonight. They all played there part and it’s a good job I’m not the manager as i would have taken el ghazi off after 70 mins.
-
Fantastic first half, second half not so much. Smith once again guilty of leaving it far too late to make changes, but got away with it
I honestly don’t get your second half assessment. The quality of the game in the second was not as high as first but we were still better than Everton.
-
A very good game to watch and we deserved the three points. Barkley was my man of the match but overall the team performance was very good.
Everton could have gone in at half time two goals down and after taking the lead at 1-2 we saw the game out well.
-
A great result, well done boys, more please.
-
Fully deserved win, best we've played this year, cracking winner from Anwar.
UP THE VILLA
-
Our Doug has looked more like his old self in the last couple of games which is promising.
When he’s on form he’s a proper decent player.
Fine goal by El Ghazi, thought he looked sharp tonight. I hope we keep him to be honest.
-
Great performance and great win so happy with tonight.
-
Fantastic first half, second half not so much. Smith once again guilty of leaving it far too late to make changes, but got away with it
I honestly don’t get your second half assessment. The quality of the game in the second was not as high as first but we were still better than Everton.
We had about 70% of the ball?
-
Fantastic first half, second half not so much. Smith once again guilty of leaving it far too late to make changes, but got away with it
I honestly don’t get your second half assessment. The quality of the game in the second was not as high as first but we were still better than Everton.
They had a 10 minute spell where they nearly caught us out with long balls for Richarlison but other than that we always looked in control and the more likely to get a winner.
The tone for the game was set by Watkins terrifying both their centre backs in the first 20, Holgate in particular looked really rattled.
-
Every one of them had a good game. Standard set there. Well done lads
-

I honestly don’t get your second half assessment. The quality of the game in the second was not as high as first but we were still better than Everton.
Everton pressed better start of second half and we were a bit sloppy , but we played well overall thoroughly deserved it
-
I think we should avoid being relegated now.
-
Fantastic first half, second half not so much. Smith once again guilty of leaving it far too late to make changes, but got away with it
Making what changes? We didn't need to make any.
Everton never looked like scoring. Everybody worked hard.
-
If Pickford hadn't been levelled up by being on the same pitch as Emi, we'd have won that with four goals. First half we were rampant for a spell, as we were at the start of the season. Everton are shaky at home but they're still a really good team, this season especially. Massive credit to the players and management.
Traore straddles that line between genius and insanity like no other player I've seen.
We're building something at the Villa.
-
Really good performance all around.
-
Great result - much more like it.
-

-
More of the same in our remaining games please.
-
Apparently Southgate spent most of the game watching Chelsea highlights on his phone and texting Mason Mount.
-
Credit where it's due the boys were superb tonight from the off. Some of the close control we produced was off the charts.
El Ghazi for me was MOTM. I thought he had his all-round best game for us in months.
-
Apparently Southgate spent most of the game watching Chelsea highlights on his phone and sexting Mason Mount.
Sorted that for you.

I think Traore is very close to being a brilliant player and you can see how annoyed at himself he gets when things don't come off so I think he's well worth persevering with. He'll probably end up one of those players where everyone looks back at his career and wonders how good he could've been. I think he's certainly talented enough to be a squad option for a top 8 team.
-

I honestly don’t get your second half assessment. The quality of the game in the second was not as high as first but we were still better than Everton.
We had a chance to really put Everton to the sword, but I just felt we took our foot off the gas a little. Don't get me wrong, we did deserve the win, and maybe I'm expecting a bit too much. Plus, 88 minutes before making a change? Seems a tad risky to me.
Everton are quite similar to us. Sometimes quality, sometimes bang average.
-
We showed glimpses last week but first half today was the most I've enjoyed watching us for a long time.
-
How have we suddenly remembered how to play football? How has Barkley come back from the dead? I'm perplexed but happy with the performance and result.
-
El Goalzie’s winner reminded me of the Andre Green goal vs Norwich in the Hourihane hat-trick game in the Championship. Feel really happy right now. Great win.
-
Can see why Everton have struggled at home this season but if we play like that tonight we'd do plenty of teams.
-
Some very good performances out there tonight but Ollie, who never stopped making his runs, was my MOTM. It’s great that a few us are disagreeing about the MOM as it shows how many of the lads had a great game tonight. Long may it continue.
-
Watkins was top class tonight. They were shit scared of him.
-

Everton are quite similar to us. Sometimes quality, sometimes bang average.
And the league table tells the same story. However we’ve come from years of terrible management from top to bottom and we’re looking like a mid to top half team. That’s good progress if you ask me.
-
Some of the passing and movement reminiscent of our early season form.
It was a good performance but the fault lines were still evident.
Deserved the win and hope the momentum gives us a chance against those twats from TTOD, sic.
-

So what changes would you have made and when ? Would they have worked ? We will never know, all we do know is Deans late changes proved right and it wasn't through luck because we made Everton look bang average all night.
-
Play like that and we might finally beat Man Yoo at home providing they don’t get their usual dodgy penalty.
-
Sum Bois.

I cut Traore a fair bit of slack, because he can produce pieces of brilliant skill.
He has tried stuff which, unfortunately, doesn’t come off and, as you say, you can see he’s annoyed with himself.
We have to expect this with a player like him. We are building a team where you can accommodate this sort of player, which can only be a good thing.

I see we won
I watched the whole game but I got in from my local club and am pissed as arseholes
couldn't say who had a good or bad game as I'm absolutely fucked
But well done Villa anyways

Even in recent games when we've not played well, I've thought that we are close to being a really good team and only need a couple of quality signings to kick on. Still think it's true.
-

I never said it wasn't progress. My argument is that our performance dipped in the second half, although we were still the better team

Another game missed. Can't wait to see the highlights.
Likewise...the right result though. Cracking winner too, great play leading up to a brilliant goal from AEG. Barkley poor for their goal but did Martinez slip or something? Was nearly on his knees when the header came in. Highlights didn't really show it properly. UTV

Thoroughly deserved win. Best we’ve played over 90 minutes for some time, a really enjoyable watch.
Thought Watkins was outstanding - with the increased squad size and doubts on Kane’s fitness he’s got a great chance of making the England squad for the Euros.

Hope the head is ok in the morning.

Excellent performance there.
We should have been out of sight first half, but more than deserved the winner. Superb finish.
Barkely was excellent today.

Looked like a couple of players ran into each other right in front of him. So might have caught him out. Barkley let him slip too easy but thankfully it didn’t make a difference to the result
-

Barkely was excellent today.
First time he’s done 90 minutes for a while. I thought he was much better.
-
Barkley improved as the game went on. Brilliant team performance. Well done to all concerned.
-
That was great to watch. Watkins my MOTM; some superb running into space and great hold up play. I've seen plenty of posts criticising the ball Tyrone plays down the line looking for Olly but much more often than not it is productive. Well done, lads, delighted with the three points.

From the BBC:
No Premier League side has struck the woodwork on more occasions in the Premier League this season than Aston Villa (20).
Ouch!
-
That was the best we have played since Grealish has been out.
Barkley looked more like he did at the start of the season and Anwar showed that he has some real talent (just needs confidence and coaching).
Hats off to Ollie as well for a really good game.
In fact, as has already been said, nobody had a bad game. We were a bit open at times, but that was offset by our own much more adventurous approach.
-
It was a cracking game generally, never mind the performance.

Agree Ads. Been a critic of Barkley for a while, but thought he had a good game tonight. Thought we played some really good stuff at times, even if it did break down a few too many times because of sloppy play in the final third.
Thought Ollie Watkins was another who had a really good game. Worked tirelessly and looked a real threat.

That's hypnotic. Thanks for posting. He has unbearable ability, but not everything will work.
-
Fantastic game of football
Ollie sets the tempo with his non stop running and chasing.
Barkley looking menacing again.
Cash never stopped racing down the right.
Best game for months
-
Ollie Watkins is knackering to watch. Imagine how annoying it is to defend against him?
The one thing you hate as a defender is pace. The other is a bugger who will run you all the live long day. In the channel, off your shoulder, it's the worst.
What a player this lad is.

such a humble likeable lad as well. There’s not many modern footballers these days I actually like.
-
Someone said earlier that was the best we've played since Jack has has been out and I thought that myself during the game. Watkins was bloody immense and Luiz showed why he will be really good given time.
-
McGinn didn't seem to have his radar did he? Worked hard, but a little sloppy.
-

We seemed to play and pass with pace tonight. McGinn is a bit frantic for that sort of game. Thought he did ok overall.

I'd walk a mile and a bit to name as good a player to come from Devon.

Martinez 7.
Good saves made. Still poor in kicking
Cash 7.
great overlaps and played in a super cross where a goal should have resulted.
Targett 7.5.
solid
Mings 8.
solid impressed Southgate I'm sure. Patient on the ball and played wih intelligence getting ball forward to Watkins
Konsa 6.5.
Pretty poor by his standards .
McGinn 7.5.
Energy and held Midfield together. Getting closer to landing another screamer....
Douglas Luiz 6.
Not good enough today casual passing and foolish for a booking. Found him disappointing to be honest. I like his ability and attempts at little passes and link ups but not really making it work.
Barkley 7. But a low 7.
Better and unlucky not to have scored . Was at fault for the goal conceded. Good to get 90 minutes from him. Greedy with a free kick taken directly at goal when he could play ball into the penalty area for set play. Corners were woeful.
El Ghazi 7.5
Marked up for the goal but generally frustrating as could have punished Everton a lot more but sporadic moments all that he offered. What he did was net the winner- a goal threat and we'll done.
Traore 6.5.
Mixtures Great in patches but after a spell in Second half became lazy and sloppy passing and carless but also creating and looking lively. Felt could have punished Everton a lot more.
Watkins 9.
unbelievable running . Super play and should have scored more than one . Best player. Great Professional

-
Well that was tremendous
-
Best away win of the season for me. Decent opposition, above us, even if their form is poor at home.
-
That’s the performance we have been waiting for whilst Jack has been out, moved the ball quickly and for me other than about 10 minutes after half time we were by far the better side.
-
Thoroughly enjoyable game tonight. They all played there part and it’s a good job I’m not the manager as i would have taken el ghazi off after 70 mins.
I think we all would have. Cracking goal but more than anything, it was a united team effort. Great first half, allowed Everton to get more into the game 2nd half but heads didn't drop, we got a second wind and punished them. For the remaining minutes I wasn't even nervous such was our organisation and effort.
Four months to the day when we were robbed at Old Trafford and the wheels looked to come off. Tonight we showed the first half of the season was no fluke; we're back and dangerous.
MOTM: Matthew. Both Cash and Targett were brilliant. Ollie wasn't bad either.
-
Cracking game and a cracking win. Special mentions to Barkley, Luiz and Mings. All 3 come in for a fair amount of stick on here (some if it warranted) but all 3 had really good games. Watkins MOTM though.
-
Someone commentated a couple of weeks ago that Barkley was worse than Drinkwater. You were wrong.
-
McGinn didn't seem to have his radar did he? Worked hard, but a little sloppy.
Been like that for a few games and has given the ball away in dangerous places at times. His work rate and attitude are top notch though.
-

Indeed but he was the one that got the move on the go for the winner. He's had a frustrating season but he'll come good again.
-
Watkins was best on pitch, he will be a Villa legend. Can't blame Barkley for their goal he shouldn't have been marking their most dangerous player in the first place. Wanted El Ghazi replaced half way through second half and then he pulls one out like that, it was a perfect strike and leaves me wondering if he would be better played more like an old inside forward. I have watched Everton a lot this season and if they had a better striker than Richarldson they would be close to top four.
-
Smith didn't do badly tonight.
Great system, well executed and some brilliant performances across the team.
Watkins MOTM. Barkley was back to his pre-injury form which was good.
Positive performances all over the pitch, thought their goal was sloppy organisation on our part.
-
Imagine when we are all back at VP and Watkins hears the support and love of the Villa faithful 💜💙 To be honest, when all the players hear us again. Can’t wait
-
How half arsed was the commentary on the Sky highlights? I’m not sure who the lead commentator was, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard their coverage be so disengaged.
-
It was a cracking game generally, never mind the performance.
It was. The first half was scintillating.
Well done lads.
-
Putting aside the 7-2 and the win at the Emirates, for me this was the performance of the season. 3/4 of the way through, a couple of places and more than a few points lower than Everton. Villa didn’t completely outclass them, but they were better and it felt comfortable. No player below a 7/10. Happiest I’ve been all season. And to do it without our best player.
-
That was ace...can we play them every week ?
Ollie edged out Barkley for MOTM due to Barkley letting DCL go for their goal.
I'm really loving our fullbacks too...Cash & (especially) Targett have been brilliant for some time now.
-
Just landed into Cincinnati and seen the score.
Bloody awesome. Time for a beer or three.

Ian Dark, he is the commentator for the US national team.
Complete Dick.
-
We had Jim Beglin on Optus Sport in Aus. I usually don’t like what he has to say, but he quite balanced today and gave credit where it was due. Maybe he hates Everton, I don’t know.

McGinn didn't seem to have his radar did he? Worked hard, but a little sloppy.
We seemed to play and pass with pace tonight. McGinn is a bit frantic for that sort of game. Thought he did ok overall.
I thought exactly the same.
For the first time in a long time there was pace and purpose in our play. The movement of players was excellent, demonstrated by many times where there was slick passing, flicks and touches that kept the ball moving.
So much, much better that the tippy, tappy, backwards and sideways dross we have been watching for a while.
We are a far better team when we are on the front foot than when we take 15 passes to get out of our own half.

We are a far better team when we are on the front foot than when we take 15 passes to get out of our own half.
Perfectly summed up, mate. Is that really our first win there since the 2008 epic?
-
McGinn didn't seem to have his radar did he? Worked hard, but a little sloppy.
I thought he was actually the one injecting the pace into our play pulling Gomes & Sig’son all over the place with his constant running & making space for Douglas & Barkley to get on the ball more than we have for a few weeks
-
Terrific performance, really fun first half, Barkley showing us all up, the wingers on it at the same time for once, McGinn slowly finding his range again, Watkins an actual animal. Even their goal was just a great corner and DCL doing what he does, no need for the blame game. Fine performance and thoroughly deserved win.
-
Fantastic win and credit to Deano. We took the initiative from the beginning and great to see Targett and Cash getting forward more. Everyone played their part.
When talking about Everton, commentator said 'with the right sequence of results, eighth in the League could qualify for Europe this year'. Not sure what sequence is, but if we beat Everton at home we are in that race.
Happy Easter :)

I thought the BT commentator gave the most biased commentary for the home team I have heard for a long time.
He seemed to be willing Everton to win.

I’m worried about john e’s hangover. I decided to not have a drink last night. I drink far too quickly watching the Villa games on tv. I think it’s the nerves.

Ramsey-
Davis -
Agreed on all
-
I wonder how many times McManamanaman would have to see a ball played from Mings or Targett directly into the path of a left-drifting Watkins before he works out it's not a "get out of trouble" hoof.
-
How half arsed was the commentary on the Sky highlights? I’m not sure who the lead commentator was, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard their coverage be so disengaged.
Ian Dark, he is the commentator for the US national team.
Complete Dick.
He's no Tommy Smyth.
-
Someone mentioned how biased the commentary was last night. Anyone else notice how quiet they went when Anwar banged in the winner? Could guarantee that if that had been an Everton goal, there would have been much more of a response!
With the whole covid thing and the option of no/fake crowd noise, I think they should start adding a commentary on/off option too…. It’s sickening most of the time.
Ps. Absolutely cracking result last night. Thought Anwar was poor first half, but came into it in the second half. The team have set the benchmark now so more of the same against Man Utd now please. *And Ross went some way to repaying Smith’s faith in him last night. Thought he was excellent… just needs to play like that consistently.

Match report in the Sunday Telegraph.

Passing accuracy v Everton.
Ross Barkley 90%
Matt Targett 86%
Tyrone Mings 84%
John McGinn 83%
Anwar El Ghazi 81%
Douglas Luiz 80%
-------------------------------------
Bertrand Traroe 79%

I feel Konsa has been out of sorts last two matches
-
Despite plenty of people calling him all the ****** under the sun in the last week, Barclay was OK against Sandwell and good last night. I still wouldn't sign him but if we get something out of him in the last few games then great.
-
Also a mention for Mings. He showed how good a defender he is on his day when he's fully switched on.

How have we suddenly remembered how to play football? How has Barkley come back from the dead? I'm perplexed but happy with the performance and result.
perhaps he's looking for his next loan deal....return home?

Thanks for your concern, I’m feeling surprisingly well this morning maybe it’s the result
I’d been out since 2 o’clock and walked back just before kickoff and watched the match in a complete blur
I only knew we’d won because my lad was jumping up and down like a loon
Just caught up on match of the day UTV

Good that there isn't much sign of a hangover.
Any chance you can try the same routine for the Man Utd game??!

Best performance for months .
Well done, 8,s all round

yes i thought that , just because it wasn’t tippy tappy , although the build up to anwars goal
was a bit 😀
-
Two great goals - excellent persistence from Ollie for the first and then a nice team move ending in a cracking finish for the second. Very very happy with last night.
-
I have eaten my slice of humble pie today for challenging Barkley's inclusion in last night's team on the match thread.
As others have said, a game played at pace against a team that didn't press well enough and a defence lacking a strong and imposing centreback is a joy to watch.
I agree that Konsa has looked a little off it in the last 2 games, but I think that is forgivable given his age and relative lack of experience.
Luiz is a funny one: he largely played well last night but the unnecessary yellow card and the occasional brainfart do him no favours.
Despite how the game panned out, I'd like to have seen more of Davis against that Everton defence: I think he'd have given them a really hard time, alongside Watkins.

I was pissed before the Fulham game and last night so think there's a pattern developing. Not sure what time to start drinking next Sunday for a 14.05 kick off.

6am should do it, just to be sure it works.

I'll make the effort for the lads
-
I'm in.
We have to find a way to win this fixture so I'm keeping my diary clear to be on my way to fully tanked just before kick off.
Ale recommendations are very welcome..

Anything but Bitters.
-
Hopefully that performance has put to bed that we're a one man team, at times we absolutely tore Everton apart, we could easily have scored 4 or 5. Superb strike from Anwar for the winner, then apart from King's effort, they never looked like getting an equalizer, a quality and very professional performance.

Luiz was taking pelters earlier in the season - most of it harsh.
He was never the embodiment of a physically strong DM. But since last June he made the position his own by good reading of the game and keeping the play moving.
Since this Jan however he's worried me a bit. He's not winning the same amount of 50/50s and has been sloppier in possession. He could, of course, just be knackered. With effectively two seasons back-to-back and Brazil commitments wedged in at various stages as well.
-
The only downside to yesterday was that I forgot to do guess the goal.
Dope..
-
Thrilled to be proven wrong on Ross, the win is the most important by far.
-
Chelsea fans are the worst kind of arseholes, I find them far worse than any other supporters (not counting local rivals) and Horsham where I live is full of them.
I was having a drink with my Everton mate yesterday lunchtime and this absolute bell ended walked past and, noting our shirts, said it would be an easy win for Everton last night.
Utter bell end.

Back in the 90's me and a mate drank 4 pints of Guinness before going to a match we won at VP. Then 4 pints after the game to celebrate. It was at the beginning of a good run and as you'll all know you get superstitious in these circumstances. We felt compelled to continue this every home game until Villa lost or drew. Can't remember how many games it was but we both put a bit of weight on and in the end were a little relieved when we didn't win and could stop. Happy days.
-
I tend to cover all the bases these days- stout, wine lager. Can’t leave anything to chance.
-
robbo1874 that’s very admirable and you doing it all for the Villa. Total respect🙌
-
Cheers Aftab- here’s hoping to a beer with you outside the black lion before next season’s FA Cup Final

If I may be so bold, I'd like to suggest one after, in celebration of another win.

One? After a win I should think we'd be drinking it dry!

Haha, it's a good point, well made.
-
Really good performance, especially in the first half, when we should have had the game sown up.
Scores:
Emi 7; one very good save, a little at fault for the goal as he could have stood taller.
Cash; fine return, defended well and put in the cross of the season!
Targett; what happened to the wimpy bloke who played there last season.
Ezri; not at his best but still good; seemed to have communication probs with Mings.
Skipper; good all-round game; plenty of accurate long passes.
Doug; improved, though not at his best. Dead unlucky to get booked. Andy Gray used to do what Doug was booked for half-a-dozen times per match. Crazy.
Meatba'; Getting back to his best. I'm liking these right-foot through balls -that's two in two now!
Barkley; really put a shift in and showed that he can do it. What was his motivation?
Bert; infuriating at times and then, suddenly, absolutely brilliant.
Ollie; V. good. Just came up short of goals.
AEG; Not a great impact, but then a great winner.
Always great to see us when we pass the ball faster.
