On the home strip? Don't be fucking ridiculous. Claret shirt, blue sleeves, white shorts, blue socks. So as to keep it exciting, I will allow the occasional claret trim on the socks.

The blue socks are the best looking, followed by white. Nobody looks good in red socks, not unless ur Father Christmas.

Yes, red. Nobody looks good in red socks. All shades of red. Blood red, burgundy, slapped arse-cheek.

They can't be very lucky if you've worn them much over the last 10 years?

Prefer black socks to claret, but the correct answer is obviously blue.

Prefer black socks to claret, but the correct answer is obviously blue.

Socks is the one area where it's really down to personal preference. From the start of having regular claret and blue home kits in the mid 1880's, we then had claret socks for the majority of the time until the 60s, with the exception of about 30 years from the 20 to the 50s when they were black. Having socks the same blue as the shirt sleeves only started in the 60s. Since then it's been either blue, claret or a combination of the two. I'm prepared to overlook your historical inaccuracies therefore just this once, but please don't insist that blue socks are 'correct' or you'll have to go on *the* list I'm afraid. The Luke kit had blue socks, that's all I'm saying.

Not white socks.

They are a devil to wash.
