2009/10 was smart albeit a bit England for my liking.

That was my issue with it too. The worst away kit of a recent vintage was the lime green and blue Genting effort of 2012-13. Can't really go wrong with white shirt/claret shorts or all black with a dash of claret. Hate the yellow shirt/blue shorts combo (especially since the 1992 FA Cup quarter-final*) but didn't mind the yellow and black 'Quickbooks' effort.

*Amazingly the attendance at Anfield was only 29k, hard to believe in this day and age.

We took an absolute load, too, as I recall.

Yep but our allocation was cut on police advice from recollection.

The 2009/10 home shirt is the best in recent years along with that away shirt. I have a massive soft spot for the 92/93 home kit, really iconic.

You can’t beat the 76-81 home and 82 away kit though, both absolutely glorious.

Where do you sit on away kits, cd? I mostly think they can do what they like, but my recent least favourite was the purple and white quarters thing. Just so badly put together, it was awful. Lerner's obsession with checks was a bit odd as well.

Yes, that quartered one is crap. I picked up the long sleeve version in a second hand clothing shop in Tokyo for about £4. It's really tacky, but surprisingly comfortable.

I quite liked that one, but if I recall the dark colour (blackberry I think) was too close to claret so we couldn’t wear it as often as we should have.

The last two Kappa away tops have been really nice

I picked up this years away for £15 last week.  Don't tend to buy modern kits but it is a great design and I love the nod to 82.  Sizing is crazy though.  That's the first (and I hope last) time I've had that many x's on an item of clothing.
Drove past VP this afternoon so popped in to the shop. Picked up the white away for £15. I’m usually L or XL, and found them pretty much true to size. They had a selection of sizes on the rack so tried on the XL and XXL. The XL was a good fit but the XXL was too baggy…didn’t try L but pretty sure I’d have looked shrink wrapped.

Yellow and blue combo is what I remember from my early days of watching Villa as being their changed strip. Loved it ever since.

As a 70s kid I associate it more with SHA. https://www.bcfc.com/news/all/2021-22-blues-away-kit-released

The away shirt from this season is quality- just a shame I haven’t been able to wear it due to sizing issues/ me being a fat little fucker

I liked the colour of the acorns kits. The claret was spot on. Sometimes it looks no where near.

I always associated them with the red version of the penguin strip in the early /mid 70’s
They changed to yellow and blue a couple of seasons after we stopped using it and went to white.
I’m pretty sure they just bought our old away kit and put their badge on

The best kits we've had were when we went back to Umbro in 1990, both were magnificent. I also have love for the first Nike kits.

Yup, loved those especially the 92-93 'laces' effort, much better some abominations we had in the 80s. Also the 'Collymore' shirt in 97-98 which is the only away kit I've ever bought.

I don't think a kit has ever been as closely associated with a player as that 'Collymore' one. I find it absolutely impossible to picture anyone else wearing it.
Yeah, I'm the same. Collymore and that shirt are pretty much inseparable. Went up to see a pre-season friendly that season against Motherwell, think that was the first time I saw either the shirt or Collymore wearing it. (Outside of the photo, obvs)

I'd like to be on a list of my own, so a list of top draw kits:

1. 1956-57 FA cup
2. Le Coq Sportif 81-83 home & away
3. Reebok 99-00 Home ('The 'Merse')
4. Luke home & away
5. Humel 87-88 home & away (The SGT - Spinksy & Birchey, Alan McInally)
6. Asics 93-95 home (The muller)

Hope this helps.
