I really liked the Luke away kit. Does that put me on that bad list CD :) ?

Same as Risso and Rory, the 95-96 home is my favourite ever!

Good man 😁

95/96 was the last home kit we kept for 2 seasons. I remember being on holiday in Dawlish as a 14 year old on the day it come out and managing to find a tiny sports shop in Torquay that sold it. My god I looked the business in the club on the holiday park that night!  I agree that is the best kit ever.

I probably had Reebok trainers too and a Ciro Citterio or Sweater Shop jumper if I got a bit cold.

The best kits we've had were when we went back to Umbro in 1990, both were magnificent. I also have love for the first Nike kits.

Those Umbro early 90s kits were lovely. Apart of course from the yellow monstrosity Ellis foisted on us in the 91/92 season.

Yup, loved those especially the 92-93 'laces' effort, much better some abominations we had in the 80s. Also the 'Collymore' shirt in 97-98 which is the only away kit I've ever bought.

Blimey the Sweater Shop, that takes me back.

I don't think a kit has ever been as closely associated with a player as that 'Collymore' one. I find it absolutely impossible to picture anyone else wearing it.

You can do what you like with the away kits. So long as you like claret shirt, blue sleeves for the home kit you're fine.

UPDATED

I think on some of the less important threads, such as those discussing politics or the imminent nuclear apocalypse set to destroy us all, a bit of debate is to be welcomed.

However, for something as important as next season's desired costume, we really need to root out the evildoers and purify the thread. I would urge our esteemed moderators to look at the lists which I have helpfully compiled, below.

I'm not suggesting that the posters in the degenerates list should all be banned. That said, I'm not suggesting that they shouldn't be banned, either.

Decent, upstanding pillars of the community

cdbearsfan
dave.woodhall
Sexual Ealing
ChicagoLion
Chris Harte
Deano's Mullet
Villan82
Risso
Axl Rose
Rory
LeeB

Wrong 'uns, bounders and ne'er-do-wells

chrisw
algy
VILLA MOLE
nigel
Brazilian Villain
edgysatsuma89
Pete3206
Axl Rose

Now, I don't want to have to add to the list of debauchees above. So please can posters tread carefully before expressing any form of approval for yoghurt adverts, the Hodge monstrosity or the Hearts nonsense we wore a few years ago in the Second Division.

Hopefully this will create a more pleasant forum experience for the decent folk among us.

cdbearsfan, many thanks for putting me in that list!

Just to reiterate, the best Aston Villa home kits of the past 50 years are :

1. Reebok, 1995-97
2. Umbro, 1976-81
3. Umbro, 1992-93
4. Le Coq Sportif, 1982-83
5. a tie between the last Hummel effort in 1989-1990 and the Reebok 1997-98 effort which had a darker, less traditional vibe than the previous Reebok kit.

I do. As our home shirt should always be.

But...I also liked the Luke home shirt.

I'm chuckling away as I write this. Sorry mate!

Let's hope it's not lost in translation*.

*He's on the right list anyway.
