Great career, wish more of it had been at Villa.
same here, never understood why we let him go.

Always put me in mind of Chesney from Corrie. Not sure if that's a plus or a minus.

I can't unsee that now! :D

Chesney is also exactly the type of chap you'd imagine turning up for a mostly no-hoping international team's training camp every three months for years and years. Has that same honest face about him. Maybe they're cousins.

He now has the outright caps record for UK nations. Well done, him. Much less of a twat than the previous record holder, too.

I wonder if he'll manage to break Robbie Keane's Irish record of 146 caps. Might just fall short unless he plays till he's 40.

Think it'll be a close run thing. He's 21 caps off breaking the record, and they play 8 or 9 internationals a year ... if he can keep going a couple more seasons he might just about do it.

I'm in the "why did we let him go?" camp too. Wasnt a spectacular player, but I thought at the time he was pretty solid and looked a decent 30-game-a-season player in the Premier League.

I was thinking something similar earlier but after these qualifiers there probably won't be many competitive games till 2023. I think Robbie's impressive record for goals scored is pretty safe though.

His former headmaster is a Villa fan and is known to frequent this site. I can't remember now if he played a part in Davis joining us as a youngster. I know he was delighted he joined us and dead proud of the lad as I'm sure he is today.

Steven Davis has had a superb post Villa career. Rarely spoken of because he has always played a very unsung midfield role. But all credit to him for what he achieved at club level and country over many years.

The word that comes to mind is 'tidy'. Doesn't excel at any one thing in particular but is a good all-rounder and very dependable. I'm another one who is glad to see him beat the record of Shilton, who's a cock.

Peter Shilton really is a bitter fucking bell end.
