Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

Mark Lawrenson

BBC football expert on BBC Radio 5 Live (Lawrenson)

Aston Villa haven't changed things tactically at all which is slightly puzzling. Unless they decided let's stay as we are for 20 minutes, keep it at 1-0 and then for the last 25 minutes or so have a good go at it.

AEG takes 20 seconds to contribute more than Trez and Traore have in an hour.

Why the fuck has Barkley had to run down the tunnel? Why isn't he ready to come on when needed?

I like AEG. Don’t feel like he’s as bad as is being made out?

Where’s Barkley gone? For a pee?

Jack pulls teams apart and gives space to everyone else making those players better. Without him we completely tighten up and get easily boxed into opponents defensive zones that we don’t know how to get out of. That or players are too easily marked out of games. The drop off between when Jack plays and when he doesn’t is just astonishing.

We desperately need to find a player on his wavelength and has the personality to become heartbeat of his team when he isn't out there on the pitch.

Sort of thing that will seperate this ownership from the Lerner era imo, giving DS the funds and the order to sign one in the summer as it's no good just giving up seasons when he's out injured.

We'll never become a top team again with that mentality.

If it's any consolation, imagine how the neutrals must be feeling, having nothing else to do but watch this garbage.

even on the bench barkley infuriates. Warming up but not ready to come on has to disappear down the tunnel!!!
did he forget his spanner again?

Lawrenson and football expert. Words you wouldn't expect to see in the same sentence.

Might as well ask the ref to blow for full time as bring Davis on. Mind you, we might as well have done that when they scored.
