It does look like we are a one man team, cluless in midfield and Watkins has the ball bouncing away from him all game. Not sure who we could bring on that would make any difference.

Some half decent tactics might help. It seems we're stuck on 'smash & grab' mode.

I’m not his greatest fan but I would put Barkley on for Ramsey

Agree about Ramsey, think the game's passing him by. I'd like Sanson before Barkley, this game needs players able and willing to make tackles

Watkins needs some help. Ramsey off and Davis on. I ain't a big fan of Davis, but Watkins needs someone closer to him..

Ramsay looks like he doesn't have the confidence to either drive with the ball, or play more ambitious passes, so I think your 442 idea might be the right plan.

Yes, sorry to say Ramsey has looked a little out of his depth.

Give him a chance. Jack wasn’t always great when he started

This forum never ceases to amaze me, the polar views are incredible. Some people think we are being outplayed whilst others think we are well on top! So which is it for fucks sake 😂
neither
Both
Is there a third way ?

We are desperate for some creativity from midfield. Barkley? Sanson? Both?

The fact that people actually watch chef programmes speaks volumes for the tone of comments on that first half.

Crying out for Barkley or Sansom. Or both.
I'm just crying out.

I don't think we're that bad. We've opened then up a couple of times and had a couple on target. A bit of luck and a bounce of a ball goes our way and we're on our way.

I think we could of risked Barkley's non existent work rate tonight considering he'd be up against john jo shelvy.
Joelinton is winning his personal duel against mings but I still don't smell any danger. he can put mings on his arse all day long by the corner flag.
Watkins hold up play has been poor tonight.
El gazi seems to be the man most likely.

Sheff U were terrible before they played us and equally terrible when they beat us.

Let's not go there again.

Come on Villa, show some quality second half.

Remember in the 90’s we had Tommy Johnson or Julian Joachim. Who would come on and just run around. Even an option like that would be an improvement on JJ tonight.

We just never seem to make a change at half time. No matter what.

If we knock a bit of money off, do you think Man City would definitely take Luiz back?

Think it's been his best 45 mins in a very long time. He has made a number of interceptions and tidy passes. Konsa has been as composed as ever. AEG has some a bit of life since coming on.

That aside, this has been every bit as bad as we feared pre game. Mings has been appalling, really needs the coaching staff to tear into him at half time. Watkins has been terrible too, his first touch is horrible. Ramsey unfortunately has let the game pass him by. Elmo and Trez....yikes, would struggle in championship.

Thankfully Newcastle have been equally as bad. Joe Linton getting the better of the arm wrestling match with Mings, Willock showing some nice touches but not much else.
Luiz has been decent not sure why hes been singled out.

It’s not just tonight though. It’s been the last 10 games. Really poor all over the pitch lately save as the back 5 who are consistently v good. Midfield poor, forwards poor.

Give me some pace and guile up front

Trez still has the composure of a man holding a hand grenade with the pin out.
