This team was okay sitting deep against Leeds defending an early lead and trying to hit on the break. There's not enough creativity to take the game to Sheffield or to break them down now they have a lead to defend.  I think our best chance is to try Barkley or Sanson or both.  Maybe even Trez who will at least run at them with some headless chicken energy and maybe tuck away loose ball in the box.

Elmo has cost us 3 goals in 3 games. Poor Matty Cash, come back soon.

Not great, but not terrible either.  Conceded a bit of a fluke goal, but Elmo was caught napping.  Too many giving the ball away too many times in the final third to get any real momentum going.

Kids are in bed, I’m relaxing. Just tuned in and found the score.

Oh boy. We need to do better this half

Poor on a Wednesday, poor against the weaker teams, yet another poor performance following excellent win previous game. Please reverse these 3 trends 2nd half.

Yes, if we win this it will be the most impressive win of the season, given all that is against us: conceding the first goal, playing a shit team, playing midweek, winnjng the previous game.

If we can overcome those obstacles, I will be mightily impressed.

PS I think that there is little doubt now that the players underestimate these lower table teams, despite what Dean says. Trouble is, when we start sloppy, it's really hard to get the sharpness back during the course of a game.

That’s a penalty all day long, wasn’t sure when I saw it live.
Don't worry that's what VAR is for.........

Looks like I'm in minority but I don't think we were that bad. Thought we were much worse v Southampton and Brighton who on current form aren't that much better than Sheffield United.

Were well on top from 15 minutes onwards and they just strung together a really good move against run of play. Of course them being where they are makes it seem worse but it's not like they've been trashed regularly like we were in 15/16.

Would be hugely disappointing to lose but I don't expect that. Will probably have to use the subs bench to win this.

We haven't been that bad.

Well don't tell me, tell whoever said we're making them look like Barca!

Sometimes you just have to accept opposition are allowed to score a good goal just as we scored some good goals in 15/16 but were ultimately rubbish.

Have to credit McGoldrick doing that superb pass on halfway line and then breaking his neck to get into the penalty area 10 seconds later.

Unless I missed another that was their only serious shot at goal. It happens but we need to quickly get on front foot second half otherwise it will feel like one of those halves where time quickly ticks by.

I want to win this game to keep our momentum but also so we can remind everyone that even if the "ghost goal" had been given last year we would NOT automatically lost the game.
Why would one give a fuck what 'everyone' says about that goal? FTF!

Looked outside when I first saw it but replay indicates just on the line when he battered Ollie.  Stonewall foul/pen missed by at least three officials.

So what were the VAR officials thinking about?  Presumably "not a clear and obvious error" but surely if they ask the ref to look at that he gives a penalty?

We have not been that bad but not too good either
I worry about seemingly always looking for a ball back to Martinez.
I think it was mings passed it back with him standing in the mud he barely managed to whack it away.
Watkins isolated, El Ghazi hmm, Traroe could have scored goal of the season , but didn't
need to work their GK more

A bit harsh this. Martinez spills a shot that's straight at him, Elmo has cost us the goal. Don't remember the build up to Maddison's either, so did Elmo really cost us that one?

Was it even looked at? Var is quiet tonight.

Yeah I thought he got taken out although only seen one replay so not sure if it was in the box.

VAR ref taking about 2 seconds to look at and dismiss it is yet another in long line of p*** takes.
