I think so. It was great fun in that lower tier when it was terracing.

From the age of 6 my Dad took me to Villa Park with my Grandad and I have no idea why but it was always in the Witton.  I never questioned why we didn’t go to the Holte as I was happy in the Witton even when I can recall my dad and I cowering on the back bank as bricks were being thrown around us.  When the North Stand was built naturally we took up a season ticket and to be honest the view we had was phenomenal.  Whatever they do to the North Stand I hope it ends up with similar memories …..

I’m sure I’ve asked this before, but having the lower tier safe standing would amp up the atmosphere at that end of the ground.  wasn’t possible when we were retaining the old stand but it might be now.

When was segregation introduced? Pre North Stand I've been told it was huge bank where home fans went. Away fans were on terraces and the seating on the lower North stand as long I can recall.

Prior to that did they just mix?

I am not sure about when we gave up the lower Witton End completely to away fans but for a long while we did. However I remember stood there once in mid 80's (I know that because we were shit that season and prior to that we had not been shit since start of my supporting era) against Leicester and it was mixed. An old lady, Leicester fan, told me off for swearing far too much at the Ref that day. I am still ashamed of that incident.
