It would be brutal on Brucie too. Thought he was pretty magnanimous on TalkSport yesterday when asked about Villa's victory.

For his faults as a manager with us, he stopped the decline and moving in the right direction…..and he signed McGinn.

He was a fucking chancer, but he comes from a culture of management where being a fuckig chancer is the default. Many of them were/are much worse than that.

I liked him until he started having digs at everyone. Bollocks to him.

Pretty much my opinion.

Bruce stopped the rot following the Di Matteo disaster, brought in important players like Hourihane, Terry, Johnstone, Whelan, Elmo and of course McGinn. After the play off defeat, he lost the plot completely and was rightly replaced, but he gets a pass from me. A chancer? No.

I’ve no beef with him, after Di Matteo (who WAS a chancer), I’d have taken Fred West - Bruce was what we needed at that time, he steadied the ship and gave us shot a promotion - something that no one who was at that Preston away game (Di Matteo’s finale) thought was possible at the time.

Bruce got us thinking that we are a big club again, but he’s no Deano!

Didn’t he say we were being unreasonable to expect at least one win every month?

At least he never called us fickle.  I was always a bit surprised he didn’t try to eat that cabbage, or, take it to his favourite donna kebab shop.

I don't mind Bruce but saying he got us thinking we were a big club again is a bizarre thing to say in my opinion. Also, the prior comment regarding important signings. He made a lot of shit ones too. Very much seemed to be kid in a candy shop transfer policy.

Yeah, I’d question that too.  To my mind he steadied the ship, maybe even turned it around, but had no strategy for growing the club and making it big again.  His signings and comments were cementing our place as a Championship club, but with a higher wage bill.

Giving it the big one after beating Rotherham at home sums him up.

I remember Bruce being interviewed before a game and we just managed to sign the likes of Grabban, Elmo, Abraham or whoever, and he said the reason we managed to get those players is because we are Aston Villa. Anyway, he failed, hence the cabbage throw and we move on.

He did alright. He steadied the ship. But ran out of ideas and stayed too long.

And he bought John McGinn.
