As Algy says, just 5 events a year at something around 35-40k attendance is a 20-25% boost to our income from the stadium.

Not sure it’s that much - non football events or non Villa matches, we’re going to be sharing a good amount with the other organisations involved (ie the rugby teams and championship in your example).

If we were to build a new stadium the major opportunity was to be close to the HS2 terminal.  That could have got tourists to see the future Kings favourite team just as quickly as they can get across London to Spurs.

Now that opportunity has gone, we might as well stay where we are.  But the only way we can get to 60k will be a new Witton and a better solution for the North.  I doubt we'll be doing this during the tenure of the current ownership.

The only way we could rebuild is with somewhere to go and there isn't a ground big enough until you get to Manchester and that's not going to cut it. I mean it would be ace for me but not so much for the overwhelming majority.

I am sure there are much more intelligent uses of space than we have seen.

I was thinking, when Comcast came aboard we all thought that'd be about a new stadium. Maybe it was about using their expertise to inform us as to the best way to maximise revenue from our stadium - whether that be the one we already have, or a new one. The bit lots of us got wrong was that last bit, it didn't have to be 'you need a new stadium'. Or at least not yet, that could still be the plan further along the line.

I can't help but feel that, if someone is going to build a 62000 seater stadium in the city (and they keep saying they will), it makes zero sense unless Aston Villa play there.

They are former Comcast though and they came aboard because they bought a stake in Villa as the third partner. So they have their own interests and from what I’ve read their specialism is entertainment rather than construction.

But we come back to the central point. Nothing can happen until after 2028 because until then the priority is to deliver a 50k stadium with rail upgrade for the Euros.

So longer term plans will wait.

I don’t think the owners or Chris check when he was here or any of the Villa high ups have ever given any indication of building a new stadium
When comcast joined it fueled people’s imagination but the only mention of a new stadium and sites of where it might be and what the infrastructure around it needs to be is on the H&V site and probably other such like forums

There’s been nothing from the club at all, in fact exactly the opposite but people still go banging on about it until they start to believe it with zero evidence

Seeing as the club view the ground as a Heritage Asset it also tells you their mindset as it relates to Villa Park. No such thing as never, but I imagine under the current ownership and manager moving from Villa Park would be a hard as it stands. It’s more than just a ground. We know, they know it and everyone who visits knows it. Traditional grounds with incredible atmospheres caused by current fans and the spirits of the past are becoming reducing in numbers. Gone are the likes of Highbury, White Hart Lane, Goodson, Upton Park and Maine Road to be replaced by replica stadia build to drive revenues over that connection to loyal supporters. The challenges at Villa Park are well documented so I applaud efforts to upgrade where possible and keep us there.
