I'll admit that I'm not a huge fan of that weird executive box bit myself.  But is this that much worse than what's already there?

compared with

I think it looks slightly less shit, personally.

Kinda reminds me of pictures of Norwich's old ground, The Nest.

I think there's other images, not renders, that make it look much better.

Yeah, I'm not really sure what the fuss is. It won't be for the likes of me, anyway.

They are doing these 'enhancements' to get over 50k for the Euros?
Maybe once that's out the way, they will go for a new stadium.

It'll bring back flashbacks to Sexual and his errant younger days and debauched ways.

Genuinely, that looks like the sort of cheap shite Ellis would have put up. It's properly awful.

What in the blue hell is that?!  It looks like the tiny stand at Vicarage Road.
I actually think thats an act of architectural vandalism on our beloved Villa Park. We need to let the club know we dont want this crap tacked onto the side of another piece of crap that Doug Ellis installed.

Trinity.
I wasn't saying the whole Trinity was a piece of crap. I meant that little block of maisonettes with balconies tacked onto the side of it. I sit in the Trinity and its a good stand although the exterior does remind me of the back end of a shopping mall.

The Trinity, from the pitch, is a fine looking stand, it is big and imposing.

Tacking that sort of shite on for, what, a few hundred seats, is horrible. it just looks cheap and shit, like the sort of thing you'd see at some fucking dump like Molineux or Selhurst Park, it says "fuck what it looks like, we need the dough, so tack it on".

And yes, the current situation there looks shit, too, this just looks even shitter.

On the plus side if ever Lee Mack wanted to take his 1% club show on the road he has a perfect venue.

It's a shame we'll be losing most of the view of the trees between the Holte and Trinity.

Which is why it was odd we didn't go with a bigger North Stand of 13000 so that we could avoid having to do lose that unique view for the sake of a few hundred seats.

No, it isn't.
Well some think it is Drummond.  But we get that others are very happy with the planned refurb.  I think it's odd we didn't go for a 15-16k North when we have the land available, but this discussion has been done to death now.

I see Arsenal are planning a further upsize which may involve them playing at Wembley again.  But yeah, shutting a 6,000 seat stand for 12-18 months is unthinkable for Villa.

I don't believe, for one single second, that anyone thought we should go for a bigger North Stand to protect the view of a couple of trees in the gap between the Trinity and Holte. In fact, I'd hazard a guess that the vast majority hadn't even considered it may go at all, until this change was announced.

100% correct and I don't see anybody arguing that. The point being argued is that we actually own a large plot of land behind our smallest stand and therefore it's ripe for developing a bigger stand than 12,000 and this would negate requiring to put extra seats in a corner of the ground that backs immediately onto a footpath, public road and park.

You wouldn't be deliberately misrepresenting the point now would you?

No.

I don't get the hate for this extension - as long as they don't make a mess of the roof then it doesn't really do much more than extend what is already there, and if anything adds to the feel of VP as a unique ground.  A pavillion (which essentially this resembles) is exactly the kind of structure that would be in keeping with the heritage of the place, surely?  I also doubt it would have much of an impact on any longer terms plans for a more comprehensive redevlopment of Trinity Road.

It will hopefully also tidy up that corner externally, which really does look awful at the moment.

It looks like the kind of temporary stand that they erect out of scaffolding at a few test cricket grounds

One of the few long term positive impacts on the club by Lerner was the improvement of the appearance of VP.
