Bull was supposedly on more money in Div 2 than any of our top flight players. Wolves were never letting him go as there would have been an uproar from the fans, and no one else would pay him as much so he never really wanted to leave.

I still can't believe it, though.

We would have ruined him. Free transfer to Stoke after two seasons.

Steve Bull fed by Sid would have been excellent. Sadly never happened.

Do we know for certain that the picture was taken in Aston and they haven't accidentally moved the stands to Lincolnshire?

Even though it's an old one I still like that Lincoln play in Cleethorpes and Cleethorpes play in Lincoln.

Grimsby not Lincoln. So more apt for the "Other Games" thread than here.

FFs, schoolboy error.

When Bromsgrove played Cleethorpes in the Vase semi a bunch of Grimsby 'lads' turned up, and were actually sound as a pound. I have now exhausted everything I know about Cleethorpes. Oh and their chairman was a twat, coming onto a Bromsgrove fan page to gloat that his side from a level higher had won.

The extra rows in the lower tier make it noticeably bigger. Wonder what the view will be like.

Always like the look of the Sampdoria / Genoa ground , rebuilt for Italia 90. 4 stands but towers in each corner. Holds 36,000 but we would obviously need larger. Different from your standard soulless bowl design.

I always liked that stadium back in the day, too

Yes, I’m a fan of that one too - the architect Vittorio Gregotti also designed the Stade des Costières in Nimes.

I remember them both featuring in a documentary called ‘Et in Stadia Ego’ that contrasted Hillsborough era British football grounds with new stadia in Europe built in the run-up to Italian ‘90.

The problem with all stadia like the Stadio Luigi’s Ferraris is obviously how leaving out the corners limits the overall capacity, especially given viewing distance standards. The Westfalenstadion in Dortmund is only the third largest club ground in Europe since the corners were filled-in.

And it looks like the walkway at the front has gone so will that confuse anything?
