I can’t see the issue, it’s a good use of the facilities rather than lying dormant.
Primary concern would be the pitch but the people in the know would have given the ok.

I’m confused. Home advantage isn’t gained by being close to a geographical position. It is from having the most fans in the stadium.

There seems to have been a shift in recent times to football grounds being seen more as 'event venues'.   Guess there has always been an element of that, but it seems a lot more commonplace now.
