There can't be many premier league grounds that still have seats bolted onto an old standing terrace.
Goodison ? And sadly that will be gone in 6 months .

Fulham? Sheffield Utd if they get promoted..

Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, Selhurst Park and Portman Rd I reckon.

If there are, we aren't one of them.  The terrace was re-graded before the seats were put in.

Stamford Bridge possibly down the sides , not behind the goals , the terraces were miles back to cater to the speedway track

Not even down the sides. Both built as seated stands. Not happened at Palace either. Old Trafford is a fair shout as basically same stands where terraces were and have been extended. Not sure about Portman Road but certainly two newish stands there behind the goals.

Old Trafford can see the old away end , standing, seats above and they'd lob stuff at you . ******

Well half of it. The rest turned into disabled section. There was also standing all down the side which has now been seated in the same place.

It's the same concrete terracing though I'd bet .

Are you sure about that? I can still see where the old crush barriers were fixed to the floor. The slope of it looks exactly the same.

I'm pretty sure that when the old Witton End terrace was demolished they kept the bottom section and reformed the concrete steps which became the Lower North terrace. The crush barriers were then bolted on. When they turned the lower into all seating they simply removed the crush barriers and bolted the rows of seats straight on to the concrete. In effect the lower North is still the original Villa Park terracing.

Just seen an article which says Arsenal are looking at increasing capacity to 80,000 or maybe even moving away from the Emirates. It also says that West Ham are looking to increase capacity. It's making our decision to not redevelop Villa Park look very small time.

Redevelopment of Villa Park or relocation needs to happen soon or we will become small fish in a big pond financially. I just don't understand why the owners don't get this. The conclusion I keep coming back to us that they will probably be looking to sell up some time soon, and not have to finance a huge rebuild/relocate project. Hope I'm wrong, because these have been the best owners in my lifetime.

Off the top of my head you can add Forest, Ipswich, Palace and Leeds to the list of clubs who are talking about expanding their stadium.

It's frustrating that we talked a big game right up until the moment we became successful on the pitch then started acting small time off it. Two year's ago the plans they outlined were so ambitious and gradually been completely watered down until the latest in which they laughably have rebranded the inadequate 1970s North Stand as 'historic'.

This was great, thank you! The comments on it are very warming too. Sometimes I can take Villa Park for granted but to hear others laud it so makes me proud.

Leeds going up to 53k,Leicester 45k, Arsenal 80k, Chelsea to go huge in the near future. Even Small Heath talking up a 60k stadium.* Villa Park expansion has got to happen just to keep up. It's a case of when and how big. We will have to take short term pain for long term gain. Move away from Villa Park for a couple of seasons being the most likely option. I'm guessing Cov would be most likely.

* Only likely happen when they qualify for Champions League football.
