quick image upload

The Armada near Spaghetti . Another place to be wary of
(now demolished)

Went in there one Saturday lunchtime when there wasn’t a game, played pool and it was winner stays on, spent 20 minutes trying to lose the game after spotting the knife in the guys waistband :-)

Exactly my first thought!

"I'm playing like Paul fuckin' Newman, by the way."

Popped into that Paddleboat Steamer in the North Stand before the game. It was ok, might not be great in the winter months and the one way system (you cant walk back down the same stairs you walked up) was a bit silly.

Not seen any comment about the facilities. Any improvements. I didn’t  get the chance to check at it took us 30 mins to get in again and we almost missed the kick off.

Me too and I missed the kick off again. The issues were with season tickets disappearing from people’s wallets.

Anyone noticed that Villa seem to have taken over a section of Aston Hall for 'hospitality parking '? Not sure how they've done that, thought Aston Hall was a public park.

Can't see the locals being happy with them not letting people through.

In terms of matchday experience in Upper Trinity, no issues getting in and concourse was busy but could have got a beer reasonably quickly looking at the queues, toilets were ok and overall no different to usual. 7/10.

There was a queue to get in but it moved swiftly, what was holding everything up was people not knowing how to scan themselves in, more or ant stewards would have helped. Queue for a drink was also much improved

Q to get in was too slow for upper trinity, we missed kick off by a minute or so but more to do with our own tardiness and not thinking about the queue before hand. People need to learn to get the bloody ticket ready. Other than that it was fine, it is what it is. Until you knock it down and build something fit for purpose, there is only so much fluffing about you can do.

The whole place felt ‘ready’ yesterday.
In the bit I saw…….

No queues getting in. The painting in the stairwells had been retouched up and allowed to dry !
Concourse felt less crowded.

I’m an old fart, but I love the new LED boards all around stadium.
The whole place feels modern and fresh, but is so obviously Villa Park.

There is a LED board on the north stand which has the replaced the ‘oh it must be ….’ banner, which explains why that disappeared for a the Arsenal game.
It remains to be seen whether the banners of the upper Holte will be replaced by an LED board, as that is the obvious gap in the lighting now.

The first home game obviously came too soon. The club clearly bit off more than it could chew and the stadium was obviously nowhere near ready.

Fair play to the club though,  it’ seems there is a vision to make our stadium very modern and very fresh but retain the grandeur of Villa  Park.

I didn't like it. Just too distracting when those screens are flashing adverts and based on yesterday, on a night game it will be worse.
