I'm absolutely serious. How many people really care about the womens' team?

Lots. And it's their stadium now, too, so why shouldn't they have a player up there?

What crowds do they get again?

Who cares? It's a picture on a wall to celebrate our greatest ever female player. They're using Villa Park as their main stadium now, why wouldn't you want them to feel welcome?

This is bit weird, to be honest, mate.

I must admit, I wasn't expecting it to be serious. What a player Daly is. I was worried about losing her, so I'm definitely glad it looks like we're keeping one of the best players in the country.

It all seems a bit Emperor's New Clothes to me. There's this idea that we have two teams, they're both equal and nobody is allowed to disagree. Part of my antipathy towards Ingerlund is being told that we should all support them and womens' teams are the same. Good luck to them, let them do whatever they want. Just don't ask me to care a millionth as much about them as the men's teams.

Nobody is asking you to do anything. It's a picture on a wall. Most people seem to think it's quite nice, hopefully Rachel Daly does, too.

But I don't think anyone is asking or expecting you to care, it's just there for the people that do. There will be young girls who idolise her like many young lads idolise Emi, so why not have her up there for them?

Have to say, I thought 'Daly' was a misprint on here.

I was thinking 'that's not the Tony Daley I remember'.

Villa, like most PL clubs, are motivated by the potential money the womens game could generate. Having Villa Park even a third full for womens games, attracting new fans to buy kits, sponsors, terrestrial TV coverage etc is the reason for the focus and all the effort to raise the profile.

As for the mural, it’s fine and will no doubt need to change in the next 12 months.

I have to be honest, I do not know the name of 1 of the Villa women's team, I have absolutely no interest in women's football.

Nor me, but I can see the potential it has.  I live near arsenal and the crowds the women get is ridiculous.  They appear to use the women’s game as a way to get people addicted with cheaper tickets, younger crowd etc. It’ll also helps justify the cost of any new investment in the stadium.

I’m not a fan but can see why its integral to what the club needs to do.

The ratio of twice as many men on the mural as women could be construed as reflective of the popularity of of the respective teams. Or I could  be overthinking this.

It looks fine to me and inclusive of those who will attend VP to watch football regardless of how many and what sex they are. It might not be a big deal to me, and others but it's a big deal to them.

Same, Rachel Daly and Maz Pacheco being the only two I could name in a quiz.

Mural looks good and is about the future development of the club for both teams by the owners by attracting interest, new support,  marketing, revenue?
I understand its too much for some, but loads of us are still revelling in the fact we used to love past glories of getting the Sports Argus for Dad on a Saturday night and find things like this a bit of a stretch!
