I'm stood outside Aston station waiting for my daughter to come our of the concert. 45 minutes after the concert nor one train has arrived to take people into Birmingham. It's getting tetchy and rightly so. Who the fuck is supposed to be organising things? Chris Heck could you please stop obsessing about corporate revenue and have a look at what the average punter is being subjected to when they visit Villa Park?

I say this every time - the club know transport's shite but they can't magic trains out of thin air or hold a gun to the head of Network Rail.
Fair enough Dave but in my experience you don't seem to get the same transport problems with concert's in other big UK city's. Definitely not in any similar size city in Europe.

Birmingham is, and has always been, embarrassingly shit at public transport. I think because we were better off than all but one city during the explosion in car ownership after World War Two, everyone just assumed that every Brummie would use the car all the time so no need. Unlike London, we didn't have an already-existing massive public transport infrastructure to fall back on when that proved not to be the case.

Try getting away from a concert at Twivkenham. Makes Villa Park seem a breeze.

The Cabbage Patch is a ten minute walk.  That makes up for everything 😁

Is it all about money ? Percey earlier said extra trains had been organised but it sounds like they aren't there !

There were definitely extra trains, I saw them. Along with the dozens of security/stewards on the New St concourse and both platforms at Aston & Witton stations, directing people.

Sounds rather like there was a lot of effort getting people to VP and not as much focus on getting them away.

They (the transport bods) tweeted earlier that there were three extra trains from one of the stations and two extra from the other (can’t mind which way round) AFTER the gig. I think the times tweeted were around 11 o’clock.

Im  talking about people getting away from Villa Park.  I stood and watched people getting pretty worried about not getting on a train or a bus back into brum . Aston at 11pm is not a nice place to find yourself. I just find it piss poor from the club and the council to just ignore the situation. We are Birminghams biggest football club about to embark on a Champions league campaign. It needs sorting.

Fair enough. I was well home by then, but I saw the trains beforehand, one of which started at Bromsgrove.

Yeah I can't attest to that; only saw the extra stuff before the gig, between 6.30 and 7.45ish.

Disruption to Lichfield and Rugeley Trent Valley lines

⚠ Due to a shortage of train crew, services on these lines have been impacted.

‼Travelling from Aston/Villa Park? Shuttle bus has been put in place to help mitigate the impact of these cancellations.

Agree. Can only assume it's because most "Rugger" fans have helicopters, so don't have to bother with public transport.

Last year we caught the train back from the Springsteen gig, great queuing system restricting the amount of crowding on the platform but it was a scheduled service and left half empty!

There was a line of buses on the same side as the station heading towards Spaghetti Junction. There were none on the other side. At around 11pm when I left with my daughter it looked like carnage at the station and the city bound queue stretched as far as I could see towards the old Eddie's pub. I stood outside the Swan and Mitre from about 10.15 to 11pm and  not a single train or bus left there towards the city apart from a freight train. How do they put trains on from Wembley every minute towards central London after a match when they're only every 15 minutes the rest of the time?
