Glad to see we made their centre-forward look like the top, top second division striker he is, rather than last time's second coming of Gerd Müller. Brilliant display again from our 4 & 5.

Mings is looking a real England centre-half at the moment.

Well done Villa.

If you are talking about Bamford I genuinely forgot he was on the pitch.

I'm still purring over Konsa's little shimmy in the box with about 15 mins to go.  Wins the ball, drifts between the attackers and plays the pass like it's no big deal.  Was like watching McGrath in his prime.

And he did it all in front of Southgate.  There is no way he wasn't impressed.

Brilliant win. Tactics superb, shape without ball was excellent, a lot more legs and bite in midfield. Of course, we will have better days in terms of keeping possession but compared to Leicester we were just so much better. One of Dean Smiths best days in charge of us, I've been quite critical lately but there were some very ballsy selection calls that worked out. But we clearly worked very hard in training on our shape during the week. It all paid dividends.

Elmo started very poorly but settled down. Traore only moan for me, thought he was dreadful to be honest. No idea how he lasted the 95 mins...

Martinez 7, Elmo 6, Konsa 8, Mings 8, Targett 7, Nakamba 7, McGinn 7, Ramsey 6, Traore 4, Watkins 6, AEG 8.5. Both our subs Sanson and Trez were lively, Sanson looks a classy footballer.

Luiz and Barkley now need to get the finger out big time to get back in.

Yes, I agree with that and have echoed some of it too. You're right about Bertie. He gave the ball away consistently and didn't offer a threat. Actually did some reasonable tracking but if anything he struggled with the ploughed field more than anybody.

That was a proper away win. The sort of win a top half side would have done to us in the past. Quality when it counted, excellent out of possession and huff and puff without substance in response.

Thought Traore put in a real shift today. Covered a lot of ground and worked hard closing down.

Agree, although he had the wrong studs on!

Nice to get over these lot, some big shifts put in there from Mings and Nakamba, special mention to Ramsey and Elmo, Konya just gets better every game.

According to the unwashed of Yorkshire the pitch was to blame.

Seven home defeats now for the best manager in the world.

Tramps.

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith told BBC Sport: "Not many people would have fancied us against Leeds and they make you work hard. We got an early goal and showed lots of character.

"We've got the chance [to finish in the top six] but there are some top teams in there. We'll just take it game by game."

Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa told BBC Sport: "We dominated 80% of the game and the goal they scored was opportunism. In the first half we created enough chances to score a goal but in the second half we couldn't finalise the attacks."
