Petra Kvitova has now had to pull out after suffering an injury while carrying out her post match media duties, so maybe they are more dangerous than we think.

The absolute gall of the people (usually pudgy, white, middle aged journo blokes who've never once had a job you couldn't do while drinking) accusing Osaka of lacking 'mental toughness'. If she didn't have that she wouldn't have won many top-tier tennis matches, let alone a slam. It takes a fuck of a lot of toughness to carry on through depression, and a lot of people have really revealed this week that they don't understand this.

Indeed, some of the stuff I have read and heard in the last day or two from those associated with tennis (and especially the dickhead I listened to on Radio 4 this morning) has been bereft of any understanding or real appreciation of the issues.

There has been no shortage of opinion equating money earned with expected mental fortitude.

CD's favourite has started like a train in this semi final.

What I don't understand about the French open is that they seem to have hawkeye but whenever there's a close call the umpire climbs own from his chair and points to where he thinks the ball has landed. Why? They don't do that at Wimbledon.

Leaves more of a mark on clay. Although I hear the umpire got one badly wrong in one of the women's semi finals yesterday

If they just used hawkeye it would mean that couldn't happen although I'm not sure they have the big screens like they have at Wimbledon.

What a match between Nadal and Djokovic. Incredible stuff.

You felt Djokovic had to have broken there (1-1, 5-5 in 3rd) to have a chance to win the match. Nadal always seems to find a way to come out on top.of those epic games.

Well, Djokivic won the 3rd on a tie break. I always underestimate his resilience.

Only third time Nadal has lost at Roland Garros. Surely Djokovic will win the final now.

That will put the big three on 20 each

Edit- Djokovic currently on 18. I think he'll end up on the most unless he has a meltdown like he did a few years back.

Unfortunately the final's gonna clash with the England match.

I don't think the final will be that good a match. Djokovic in straight sets.

Agreed. The match with Nadal was to all intents and purposes the final but you never know, strange things happen.

There's always a danger of being disrespectful to the likes of Tsitsipas who after all has made it through to the final of a major. Personally I hope Tsitsipas wins and shakes up the men's game which has almost become boring and predictable.
