Andy Murray may miss the Australian Open, having tested positive for Covid.

Nadal knocked out of the Aussie Open, CD will be upset :)
-
Osaka v Brady and Djokovic v Medvedev in the finals. Two clear favourites there.
Serena's search for 24 continues. Starting to look like she'll never catch the homophobic crackpot. I wonder if she'd retire if she wasn't so close. Then again Venus is still going so maybe she'd carry on regardless.
-
Djokovic wins his 9th Aussie Open in 3 sets, 18th grand slams now 2 behind Federer and Nadal, quite a bit ahead of Andy Murray.

😁
-
I don't think Serena will make it to 24, which I don't think diminishes her as the greatest women's player ever - I know Court could only play what was in front of her, but it was a different time - although she isn't my personal favourite. I remain a big fan of Hingis and Henin, who relied on technique and tennis brain to compensate for "average" physical attributes, as opposed to say, Williams, Graf & Navratilova.
-
The greatest win of his career for Dan 'The Villa Man' Evans beating Djokovic in 2 sets at the Monte Carlo Open.
-
Rafael Nadal only 3rd seed for the French Open, how do they work that out?
-
Britain's number 1 Dan The Villa Man knocked out in the first round of the French Open, beaten in 4 sets by Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic.
-
Naomi Osaka has a point.
-
Naomi Osaka has a point.
She'll need more than that - needs a minimum of forty-eight to win a match.
I don't think she has much of a point from what I've read. I can sympathise that it is unpleasant to be interviewed after a loss, and the press can ask unpleasant questions, but she has not gone about it the right way. A unilateral declaration, followed by apparently totally ignoring follow-ups from the GS organisers to try and find a compromise. Like it or not, all tennis tournaments - that give her the platform to earn not just winnings from the sporting side, but also earnings from sponsorship - need media coverage to survive, and that means access to the players, hence why it is part of their contracts to do media duties.
-
Feel sorry for her if she has mental health issues, they could have been more accommodating.
-
The absolute gall of the people (usually pudgy, white, middle aged journo blokes who've never once had a job you couldn't do while drinking) accusing Osaka of lacking 'mental toughness'. If she didn't have that she wouldn't have won many top-tier tennis matches, let alone a slam. It takes a fuck of a lot of toughness to carry on through depression, and a lot of people have really revealed this week that they don't understand this.
-
Petra Kvitova has now had to pull out after suffering an injury while carrying out her post match media duties, so maybe they are more dangerous than we think.

Indeed, some of the stuff I have read and heard in the last day or two from those associated with tennis (and especially the dickhead I listened to on Radio 4 this morning) has been bereft of any understanding or real appreciation of the issues.
-
There has been no shortage of opinion equating money earned with expected mental fortitude.
-
CD's favourite has started like a train in this semi final.
-
What I don't understand about the French open is that they seem to have hawkeye but whenever there's a close call the umpire climbs own from his chair and points to where he thinks the ball has landed. Why? They don't do that at Wimbledon.
-
Leaves more of a mark on clay. Although I hear the umpire got one badly wrong in one of the women's semi finals yesterday
-

If they just used hawkeye it would mean that couldn't happen although I'm not sure they have the big screens like they have at Wimbledon.
What a match between Nadal and Djokovic. Incredible stuff.
-
You felt Djokovic had to have broken there (1-1, 5-5 in 3rd) to have a chance to win the match. Nadal always seems to find a way to come out on top.of those epic games.
-
Well, Djokivic won the 3rd on a tie break. I always underestimate his resilience.
-
Only third time Nadal has lost at Roland Garros. Surely Djokovic will win the final now.
-
That will put the big three on 20 each
Edit- Djokovic currently on 18. I think he'll end up on the most unless he has a meltdown like he did a few years back.
-
Unfortunately the final's gonna clash with the England match.
-
I don't think the final will be that good a match. Djokovic in straight sets.
-
Agreed. The match with Nadal was to all intents and purposes the final but you never know, strange things happen.
-
There's always a danger of being disrespectful to the likes of Tsitsipas who after all has made it through to the final of a major. Personally I hope Tsitsipas wins and shakes up the men's game which has almost become boring and predictable.
-
It would be great to see someone new winning a men's grand slam. The only time one of the big three hasn't won one in the last five years (post Murray and Wawrinka) is when two weren't competing and the other got kicked out. It does beg the question of whether those three are too good or the newbies aren't good enough. Probably a bit of both.
-
Great effort from Tsitsipas, but when it comes to best of 5 sets Djokovic has once again proved too good. He's now on 19 majors, just 1 behind Federer and Nadal. 2021 Grand Slam is on.
-
Thought there might actually be a non-boring male Grand Slam winner, should have known better. Still, at least it was El Grunty Arse Picker, I suppose.
-
Nadal has pulled out of Wimbledon and the Olympics, says he needs to recuperate after a long clay court season.
-
Any news on if Osaka will be at the Olympics? Be a shame if not, considering it's in Tokyo.
-
BBC are saying she will miss Wimbledon, but plans to go to the Olympics.
-
Ta.
-
19 year old Englishman Jack Draper is drawn to play Djokovic, first game on centre court. Andy Murray plays his first match at Wimbledon for 4 years, he's got 28th seed Nikoloz Basilashvili.
-
Konta misses out on her chance to play two sets at Wimbledon due to having to self isolate.

That must be heartbreaking

Very good question.
It's all a matter of opinion, but it's clear that Federer/Nadal/Djokovic in some order make up 3 of the best 5 male players of the open era, if not the top 3. However, Federer's dominance inspired Nadal, and Federer/Nadal's rivalry inspired Djokovic, and to a lesser extent Wawrinka and Murray.
The men's game has absolutely gone stale, in my opinion. Previous greats retired at 30-32 in most cases. Not because they were no longer competitive but because after achieving so much, younger players were simply performing at a higher level at the business end of the slams, whether due to developments in the sport or in strength and conditioning.
These three are all-time greats, yes, but at 39, 35 and 33 (I think?) biological reality alone suggests there should be younger players capable of beating them on a regular basis, and certainly over 5 sets at the slams.
Great players will always be capable of great things, but the fact that they are still so dominant means that what we're witnessing is not just prolonged greatness, but stagnation. All in my humble opinion.
-
How many Grand Slams would Murray have won if he'd been playing in the eighties? Would have to be at least double figures.
-
How many Grand Slams would Murray have won if he'd been playing in the eighties? Would have to be at least double figures.
In any other era, to be fair. I'm not a fan of him as a player, but he and Wawrinka could easily have 8-10 each in any other era, as well as 5+ for Roddick and Tsonga, probably.
-
I doubt Federer will win another slam, he's 40 in a few weeks time, he had 2 operations on his knee last year and was out of the game for over a year. He had to pull out of the French Open a couple of weeks ago, having reached the 4th round due to knee problems once again.
Nadal has pulled out of Wimbledon due to the fact, his body has not fully recovered from nearly 2 weeks at the French Open, so there is clearly a doubt, whether he will be at the top much longer.
On the other hand at 34 years of age, Djokovic is playing better than ever, having won both the slams this year. It every much looks like he will end his career, as GOAT having won the most slams.
-
Listening to the noise of the 2 ladies on court 1 is giving me a headache - it is so loud, the crowd should be issued with ear defenders.
I hope I am never in the same hotel as them when they are having a romantic evening with their partners
You would probably hear them on street outside as you were passing by
-
Well played Jack Draper superb effort
-
Be nice if Murray can cause a bit of an upset.
-
Serena Williams retires injured.
-
Really sad to see Andy Murray struggling to beat a bloke he would have swotted away like an annoying insect in his prime.
-
Still going though.
-
Fair play to Murray, fantastic performance. I thought he was done for but what a come back.
-
Andy Murray really needed the roof closed to maximise the noise of the crowd. Played really well after that.
-
Brilliant from Raducanu. She looks a real star.
-
You beat me to it CD, 18 years old, ranked 333rd in the world, waiting the results of her A levels, now through to the 2nd week of Wimbledon, unbelievable.
-
I'm not much of a tennis expert, but she played some of the best backhand shots I've ever seen. Some talent.
-
What a performance by Emma Radacanu. You'd think she might fold after having all those break points towards the end but no she kept her head and did the business.
-
Emma Raducanu is the youngest British female to make it to the second week of Wimbledon, since 1959. So in the women's singles tomorrow they've got Gauff v Kerber on centre court and Emma's match is on number 1 court, wrong way round Wimbledon, you idiots.
-
She's last on, which is the main thing. Hopefully won't start before work is finished.
-
No 2 seed Medvedev knocked out by 14th seed Polish Hubert Hurkacz, with Zverev also out, looks like it could be a Djokovic Federer final. The most dangerous other players are probably Shapovalov and Berrettini.
-

I think the pressure of being on number 1 court was enough - can you imagine how much greater the pressure would have been on centre court? Let's hope she's back next year and does even better!

It'll be tough, there'll be a lot more expectation next year. Is it too late for me to copyright the term "Raducanu Ridge"?
Interviewed today in an England shirt, she's no Andy Murray! >:(

Now why didn't I think of Raducanu Ridge? I tried to think of a word meaning hill that began with R and failed miserably!

I could also have gone with Rise but I though Ridge was more apt given the Clint Eastwood film.
-
Berrettini through to the final, could it be an Italy double on Sunday?
-
No. Djokofedadal will win, as usual.
-
Berrettini through to the final, could it be an Italy double on Sunday?
Hope so, he sounds like a worthy successor to "Pistol Pete".
-
Andy Murray loses in 5 sets to 3rd seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, sounds quite a match, sadly Sky don't have the rights to the US Open.
-
I watched it on prime and yes it was a great match. Murray could have gone up sets to nil after winning the first and I think that was a big turning point. Fair play to Murray, to perform at this level after his surgery is very impressive.
-
Watching Dan Evans against Popyrin. Great match and just found out that Evans is a Villa fan. I had an idea he might be as he's wearing a Luke shirt. Clearly a man of great taste as well as being the British number one.
-

Yes, a good day for Villa fans today with Chris Woakes in the cricket and now Dan Evans getting to the last 16 of the US open for the first time.
-
Raducanu looks like a player.
-
Yeah just heard the result 6-0,6-1 against the number 41 in the world is just superb.
-
A great result for her. Barty (potentially) up next in the last 16.
-
She is special. A total demolition job of a very good and in form player. She only dropped a game because she got a little tight closing the match out. I think she was embarrassed. If she gets past Barty, she has a real chance of winning it.
-
I reckon she might be a bit good. And Piers Morgan is a twat.
-
Raducanu vs Rogers it is then.
-
I think she has a very decent chance against Rogers so things could now get very interesting.
It's fantastic watching a British player who genuinely seems to have the potential to become a world beater. I loved the thoroughly professional way she beat Tormo especially the power of her hitting. It was ruthless, great to watch.
I know they're using a hawkeye type system instead of line judges and when a ball is out or there's service fault, you still hear out or fault. Is that electronically generated or is someone actually saying that? Might be a silly question though.
-
Just found the answer.....

Raducanu v Rogers on Amazon Prime, probably about 7.30. Just watched the last set of the match between Bencic and Swiatek. Bencic won and will play the winner of this match. From what I saw the winner of this match has a real chance next round.
-
Maybe not 7.30. The previous game, rather unexpectedly, may go into another 1 or 2 sets.
-
She's in the quarters winning 6-2, 6-1 superb stuff
-
Another impressive display by Raducanu! 11 games on the bounce won that.
-
Phenomenal! 11 games in a row for the second match running.
Raducanu is something special.
-
Blimey.
-
What a player.
-
She's got Bencic next. She's on a good run and won Olympic gold but she has her flaky moments.
There's nobody consistently dominating women's tennis so she could go further yet.
-
Certainly a lot more interesting than the same players winning all the time like in the men's events.
-
I've just remembered it's all on Prime, so I'm watching a replay now. 2 games down in the first, saved 2 break points in the third game. She looks ridiculously calm.
-
Sounds like she's handing out some thrashings. Great achievement so far with more to come hopefully.
-
It's not just that she's on a great run, it's that she's pulverising these players in the top 100/50 in a way that would be eye-catching even if she were world number one. Top stuff.
-
On Arthur Ashe at 5.00pm BST. Match is live on Amazon Prime.
-
Not happening for her so far.
-
Glimmer of a chance here in the 6th game.
-
Break back! Three-all.
-
Good hold from 0-30 to take the lead for the first time.
-
Good hold that from 0-30 down.
-
Raducanu breaks again! The last two points were brilliant. 5-3 and serving for the set.
-
What a game that was, Emma very much on top now.
-
First set Raducanu. Brilliant recovery, she's got some bottle.
-
Absolutely and it's great to see that from a British player.
-
Raducanu breaks.
-
Go on, kid. Break up in the second.
-
She is incredible. Nothing seems to faze her.
-
Good hold by Bencic under pressure. Raducanu has to serve for the match.
-
Radacanu wins! Ridiculous achievement at eighteen.
-
Running out of superlatives. Unbelievable stuff!
Well done Emma!!
-
Set record in tournament: played 16 won 16.
-
Another stunning performance and result! Well done Emma Raducanu!
-
What a well-adjusted, level headed young lady she is. Very impressive.
-
Yeah she seems all nice but actually she's clearly a ruthless monster. That forehand could puncture Kevlar. Glad she's on our side.

Love it!
-
Minimum guaranteed prize money of $650k for someone who was sitting their A-Levels earlier this year!
What a superstar in the making we have here!
-
Ruthless efficiency.
-
Brilliant Emma, if she keeps this up she'll be getting her own thread!
-
Well done Emma! Not just playing brilliantly but also seems very nice, definitely my current favourite Sino-Romanian-Canadian tennis player.
-
I haven't checked the draw, but could Raducanu potentially play Fernandes in the final? That would be amazing.
Lloyd Harris falling to pieces vs Zverev. I find it very hard to warm to Zverev to be honest.
-
blooming hell she moved to UK when she was 2. She has lived here longer than most of the Villa kids team that won the cup
-
Superb. First female qualifier to reach the U S semi’s
-
Mad achievement.
-
Superb. First female qualifier to reach the U S semi’s
And she hasn't even reached the end of her second grand slam and she's already British #1!!!
-
Meant to watch it today and forgot. Another impressive result. Up for grabs now surely?
-
All well and good her getting to the Semis, but so far I hav'nt heard any grunts or shrieks whilst smacking every ball back like the top players do. Come on Emma, you need to develop this side of your game or you will never get anywhere.
-
Seems like her next match is on at stupid o'clock.☹
-
spoty candidate
Possibly if she wins the US Open but it'll probably go to the Monégasque F1 driver again especially if he wins a record 8th World title.
-
It should be Raducanu if she wins the US Open or Sarah Storey otherwise. Fuck giving it someone lucky enough to drive the fastest car. Nearly as stupid as when a horse wins a race and everybody praises the person that was sat on them.
-
If she wins she should be given next year's as well, it would be that extraordinary an achievement. Otherwise...Rashford? I dunno, an Olympian I suppose.
-
Adam Peaty if an Olympian I reckon? He won two golds can't think of anyone else who did. Athletics is usually a good bet for SPOTY in an Olympic year but we underperformed in that this time.
-

Can't agree with that. Dean had pretty much the same team as Bruce. Something made it better
-
One set up and a break up in the second. Incredible stuff.
-
Well that was well worth getting up early for.
What a performance.
The first ever qualifier in either men's or women's tennis to reach a final in the open era. Incredible achievement.
-
Amazing news to get up to. And still hasn't dropped a set. Genuinely incredible stuff.
-
She's playing another 18 year old in the final.
So the combined age of the finalists is younger than me.
-

Fernandez turned 19 on Monday. Mad to think neither of them had ever progressed beyond the fourth round of a Slam tournament prior to this. I'm captivated by this when I normally couldn't care less about tennis. Better set an alarm, I think!

And the last time the US Open saw two teenagers in the final was 1999, with Serena Williams Vs Martina Hingis.
They both went on to have reasonable careers...
-
Wow an incredible result from Raducanu (again) and now a major finalist! I didn't see it (my son did, so I'll speak to him later about it), but the scoreline suggests another ruthless display.
The battle of the teenagers in the final should be interesting.
-
Great stuff Emma, final's 9pm Saturday night.
-
The level she has set is insane.
-
Great stuff Emma, final's 9pm Saturday night.
Just for clarification, whose 9pm, ours or theirs?
-
She is an absolute train.
-
Great stuff Emma, final's 9pm Saturday night.

Our time
-
Amazing stuff again, just watched the highlights. She's ranked above Serena Williams!
-
Amazing stuff again, just watched the highlights. She's ranked above Serena Williams!
And between her and her opponent tomorrow, their combined ages amount to less than Serena. It's totally sensational.
A great match-up too, style wise. Raducanu is just an absolute beast, battering opponents off the court (without wanting to diminish her ability at the net with softer hands though, she's got a lovely slice and deceptive dropshots); Fernandez has shown again and again that she's got a quite scary refusal to lose in her. Proper unstoppable force vs. immovable object stuff. Best tournament for the women's game in ages.
-
Match is now also on Channel 4, they've struck a last minute deal with Amazon Prime, coverage starts 8pm.
-
Good stuff. She deserves a big audience.
-
Team news?
-
I'm quite nervous about this. Mad considering I'd never heard of her three months ago. Goo on bab.
-
I'm relaxed, pretty sure a Canadian will win.
-
Perhaps as Villa fans we should not watch?
-
I'm relaxed, pretty sure a Canadian will win.
You're tedious as fuck, sometimes.
-
What a shot that was to finish the first set.
-
She must be intimidating to play against.
-
She’s a lot taller than her opponent.
-
Raducanu breaks at the sixth attempt. 2-0. 🙂
-
Relentless.
-
I'm relaxed, pretty sure a Canadian will win.
You're tedious as fuck, sometimes.
Tsk, those nerves can make one tetchy.
-
Boo, break back.
-
Yup - mad level.
-
Her serving has been terrible.
-
Hasn't she been 1-3 down a few times?
-
That was a great response.
-
Raducanu hasn't quite got to grips with the cute angles the Fernandes creates, but is hanging in there and I'm hopeful she'll find a way to deal with it.
-
Lucky bastard.
-
Fernandez doesn't give up points easily. Fair play.
-
Yeah that’s tough to play against.
-
Fernandez doesn't give up points easily. Fair play.
Some Nadal-esque retrieval skills, yeah.
-
Brilliant from Emma there.
-
Feels like a penalty shoot-out. Every hold of serve is tough.
-
The time is now...
-
Two set points... Raducanu.
-
And gone. Fernandez is a right little fighter.
-
Another set point.
-
Chance missed.
-
FIRST SET RADUCANU.
-
Boom.
-
The time is now...
Nailed it, mate.
-
A hard fought 1st set won well by Raducanu. Keep it going!
-
The mentality to keep going after seeing those set points slip away. Amazing stuff.
And to be fair, it's amazing from both of them. First serves apart this has been a heavy, brutal match from two players who look like the future.
-
I’m not a tennis fan but I’m watching this. What a fantastic player and what a game so far.
-
Go girl! She’s got this! 👍
-
I love the way these two are playing the game. No grunting, no dilly-dallying between points, and no quarter asked.
-
I love the way these two are playing the game. No grunting, no dilly-dallying between points, and no quarter asked.
I love it, it's so refreshing. After so many years of just accepting gamesmanship ruining the spectacle as inevitable, it's so great to see these young 'uns just go out there and slug it out, no bullshit. Credit to the sport.
-
Digging herself out of a 0-40 hole is a Fernandez trademark
-
Fernandez breaks.
-
Fernandez seems to be vibing off the crowd. Needs to dig out a break here.
-
Yep and she’s lucky on let cords.
-
Boooom
-
There we go!
-
However this match ends, Raducanu is an absolute star in the making.
-
However this match ends, Raducanu is an absolute star in the making.
As is Fernandez. Hugely impressed with them both.
-
This is the time.
-
Blimey.
-
OOFT. What a fucking shot to go a break up. Even if they tried to give us vertigo by showing it from a weird camera angle.
-
Holy shit!
-
ONE. MORE. GAME.
-
COME ON!!!
-
Fucking hell!! I have never, ever, never, watched tennis in the pub before.
-
That shot that Raducanu plays on one knee is just incredible.
-
CHAMPIONSHIP POINT.
-
Saved.
-
Here we go again.
-
I thought she had it then.
-
Incredible point from Fernandez.
-
Great effort from Fernandez. Raducanu has to serve for it.
-
Ouch.
-
Poor form Fernandez.
-
Yeah what's she moaning about?
-
Ridiculous. Obviously Raducanu needs her leg fixed up.
-
What a horrible little gobshite.
-
First Championship Point on her own serve.
-
GET IN!!!!
-
YAAAAAAAASSSSSSS
-
Excellent. Well done young lady.
-
There it is. Great stuff
-
We'll never see anything like this ever again. Will always remember where we were on this date.
-
What a horrible little gobshite.
American.
-
SHE'S ONLY GONE AND FUCKING DONE IT
-
She’s only gone and fuckin done it! Get it! Well played young lady!!! Awesome talent.
-
Well played Emma Raducanu a brilliant win.
-
Wow. No interest in tennis normally, but that's incredible.
-
Is that the greatest individual sporting achievement in British history? Got to be right up there.
-
it is mad
-
Amazing!
-
What a horrible little gobshite.
American.
Canadian.
-
Is that the greatest individual sporting achievement in British history? Got to be right up there.
Definitely up there. Remarkable.
-
Brilliant EMMA absolutely brilliant
-
What a horrible little gobshite.
FFS. She's only just turned 19 and she's in her first ever grand slam final. I think it's fair enough that she's a bit emotional.
-
She's a force of nature alright. That final serve, and the leap as she hit the ball, was phenomenal, as was her game throughout.
-
Is that the greatest individual sporting achievement in British history? Got to be right up there.
"When Alexander of Macedonia was 33, he cried salt tears because there were no more worlds to conquer. Eric Bristow's only 27."

Hysterical reaction from Henman there. Lol.
-
Is that the greatest individual sporting achievement in British history? Got to be right up there.
"When Alexander of Macedonia was 33, he cried salt tears because there were no more worlds to conquer. Eric Bristow's only 27."
That's the best bit of sport commentary ever. Stick your "they think it's all over".
-
I'd like to think someone is singing "fuck the Blues" there during Sweet Caroline
-
Superb from Emma. Qualifier without losing a set🤷♂️😆
Fernandez was great but crap first serve
-
Hysterical reaction from Henman there. Lol.
Reminds me of when he used to win matches and they'd cut to his parents in the crowd who would break into a slight non-grimace in celebration.
-
To misquote Frederick MacAulay, fucking YEEEESSSSSS!!!
-
I'd like to think someone is singing "fuck the Blues" there during Sweet Caroline
I was. From Cornwall
-
What an achievement that is, absolutely mental.
Well done Emma!
-
Relentless Radacanu - she’s a freak in the most brilliant way.
-
What a staggering achievement. And she never dropped a set in the whole tournament.
-
Shit hot, that's some amazing shit right there. Fair play to you bab.
-
What a staggering achievement. And she never dropped a set in the whole tournament.
Including in sodding qualifying. Which isn't a phrase anyone's ever needed to use about a winner before.
-
Cup and everything. Fucking brilliant!
-
This is like Halesowen winning the FA Cup, without conceding a goal or winning by fewer than three goals in any match.

And beating Arsenal in the Final to make Piers Moron look an even bigger arse than normal.
-
It’s literally something that almost certainly will never be repeated.

I thought Roy Orbison had died?
-
That reminds me, must abuse him on Twitter.
-
There's some proper reflected glory on Facebook tonight.
-

Forgot about that. I must pile on.

Emma Raducanu has deservedly been catapulted into stratospheric superstar status. Has Pep put a bid in yet ?
-
Stunning performance by a wonderful player.
Like most we ‘fell’ for her during Wimbledon and look forward to her dominating tennis for years to come.
And even if she doesn’t, what an achievement she already has.
-
And yes Piers Morgan can fuck off.
-
It’s literally something that almost certainly will never be repeated.
I guess it will be. Purely in terms of Tennis Boris Becker winning Wimbledon at 17 was the greatest.
-
What a super star this young lady is. Fantastic achievement. Can’t believe she’s just a bit older than my eldest. Incredible.
-
Just had a look at all her results in the tournament, and she was only taken to a tie-break once, and that was in the Qualifiers. Some achievement.
-
And yes Piers Morgan can fuck off.
Amazing how powerful envy is isn't it. 'Choker' is it Piers, I'd like to see you try it you half-digested mollusc.
-
Cancel the above. She was never taken to a tie-break, only once did someone get to 5-5
-
That was a fantastic watch.
Ice cool under pressure and ruthless at the big moments.
A superb achievement from someone so young.
-

I think pulling out of Wimbledon in the quarters match due to nerves/anxiety has worked in her favour.
She was totally overwhelmed then, but being brave enough to pull out and since learning how to deal with the pressure of those situations stood her in great stead last night.

The Incidents around the medical time out was an acid test really.
Fernández, who was equally talented was clearly using the situation to put her opponent under extra pressure and Raducanu just was unfazed and that's impressive.
-
Djokovic nowhere near his best and Medvedev looking very impressive.
-
Mon Medvedev.
-
And yes Piers Morgan can fuck off.

I think he's probably learnt his very painful lesson in that department to be honest.

Half digested mollusc. That sir, is brilliant!
-
There is no doubt that she's going to be trolled on the net by fascist twats for sending out that lovely message to her Chinese fans in Mandarin.
-
Djokovic falls short. Just goes to show how difficult a calendar year grand slam is.
Perhaps it would be fitting for all the "big 3" to end on 20 each.

It'll never happen, Djokovic is unbeatable in Australia. Still, it looks appropriate for now, and would definitely be fitting. (Actually, most fitting would be for Djokovic to win in Melbourne, Nadal in Paris, Federer at Wimbledon, and then they all agree just to stop.)

Haha, that sounds a reasonable compromise. In reality Federer isn't winning another. Nadal might win another French. Agree Djokovic looks likely to win more but he has had occasional dips in his career and I wonder if how exhausted he seemed in this final might precede another.

16 pages on Emma in today's Daily Mail, not sure there are too many 18 year olds, who can say that!

If you don't include the "all grown up" sidebar of shame.

16 pages on Emma in today's Daily Mail, not sure there are too many 18 year olds, who can say that!
They've always loved stories about immigrants coming to the UK and stealing our (tennis playing) jobs!
-
And if she's really lucky, when she returns to the UK she may have Jack Grealish asking her if she fancies a night out in Manchester.

The classic "it's not her it's the others".
-

It'd be a good opportunity for him to practice his Mandarin with her over dinner in Chinatown.

Emma Raducanu dropping the coach who guided her to the US Open
https://www.skysports.com/tennis/news/12110/12416665/emma-raducanu-us-open-champion-splits-from-coach-andrew-richardson
-
She's changed.
-
We finally have a potential women's world beater, but she has no experienced coach! A bit hasty to ditch Richardson.....?
-
Well done to Cam Norrie beating Grigor Dimitrov to reach the Indian Wells Final. If he wins it he'll be in the Top 16 in the rankings....
-
Emma wins her first match since the US Open, and it makes the front page of the Daily Mail, seems a tad OTT.
-
I'm not going to complain if the Daily Mail front page is a positive story about the child of immigrants. Makes a nice change for them.
