I think the club would rather use it as a way of giving young players some experience rather than forfeit the tie. I know some are worried about a real drubbing affecting their confidence but I think it helps guard against complacency and opens their eyes to what senior football is all about. There's been too many talented players over the years who find their own age group football too easy but never go onto fulfill their potential because they've become lazy.

I think it depends on the magnitude of the drubbling. Like, if we lose by 5/6 then I'd probably agree, but if they end up losing 13-0 or something then it'll just be a ridiculous exercise for all involved.

Is it in the rules that we can’t forfeit?

Does anyone know?

Probably not due to TV revenue etc but I'm glad we are not tbh.  Something honorable in giving them a game and highlight the sham.

Their under 23s coach thanked us for easing up in the second half. I'd imagine that they'd do the same.

If I was an 18 year old on the Villa books I would be so looking forward to it, a chance to make my name against the League champions. No one, not even me, expect us to win.

Well I like the fact that rather than whinge, cry or look for a get out in some way, the club have just stood up and got the fixture on.
Well may be but I would like see what happens on Wednesday before judging this. I hope it’s not the case that as usual PL teams don’t care about the FA cup.

I’m quite looking forward to seeing the lad in midfield who’s name I can’t write or pronounce, he’s supposed to be flip hot. Chukeweze or something, is he likely to play?

Have Shrewsbury been allowed to cancel because they are a League One club? May as well play though as the fixture pile up is already looking horrendous. Who will be in goal? He will be busy.

Chukwuemeka. No idea whether he'll play.

On the bright side, at least this game is happening when the schools are shut, so our players shouldn't be too tired.
